Baxter will be in squad until Fat Cat is fit.

Props: Alexander, Ma'afu, Baxter, Kepu (Robinson)
Hookers: TPN, Moore
Second Rowers: Mumm, Sharpe, Douglas, Chisolm
Back Rowers: Rock, Pockock, Hodgson, Waugh, Dennis (lock back up as well), Brown (last resort)
Scrummies: Genia (may as well play with 6 players on the bench)
Inside Backs: Gits, Cooper, JOC (James O'Connor), Barnes, Halangahu
Outside Backs: Ioane, Horne, Mitchell, Turner, Ashley-Cooper, Beale, Hynes

Squad of 30 right there.

Heard it here first.

You'd have to pick Weeks over both Ma'afu and Baxter on form if fit.

you would if you were a reds fan, otherwise you would back Baxter if you were me, or a brumbies fan would probably back ma'afu, but really, only i would be right.

It's a pity for Weeks that we have a LHP problem not a THP one - provided he is fit, of course.

Alexander has looked ordinary scrummaging in some games at LHP in the S14 and I doubt if Kepu is any better. Fat Cat will be missed.

Who would have thought, not too many years ago, that we would be better off for THPs than LHPs in the near future?

As for our present future, Salesi Manu, the Oz U20 and Manly LHP could be a 2010 smokey for 2012 though maybe I should see if he gets a Tahs contract first.

No, I didn't understand that either.

PS - anybody else think that Valentine is making a case to be backup scrummie?

He is making more of a case than Burgess, but not as much as Turner.

Can Robbie pinch players from the U20 squad or if you are in the squad is it proof he won't name you?

im making the call that burgess is going to win us the world cup next year, not genia or any other of your mid table finishing reds.

You sound like you got one foot in the finals old mate. ::)

Another option at LHP is Greg Holmes. He is proven but his amount of game time is questionable.

Turner is back on the bench this week. He may tour end of year ala Kingi, but I doubt he'll play a test for some years.

Lee, Valentine would be my two for his play. But he is the biggest dick in Australian Rugby. Not sure if that fits in with Robbie's way.

Think the two games this weekend will have a huge bearing on Wallaby selections. What better way to prove that you are good enough to play for the Wallabies than in a sudden-death final round S14 match? The other two matches whilst not having a bearing on the semis will be just as intriguing as Aussie Robbie will have an opportunity to see the Force at full strength playing against quality opposition on the road and the Reds up against a determined opposition with nothing but pride on the line.

I meant the Tahs. If you are talking of a mid table Reds. Finals aside they may still finish the top place Aussie side. ;)

The selection policy should be, if in doubt, select a Reds player.

For example, if Robbie doesn't know whether to start Moore or TPN, easy, just select S. Fainga'a.

How about no. Moore and P-N will be chosen by the horses for course style. S. Fainga'a is a shoe in for the Aus Barbarians though.

with Moore now ruled out with a broken jaw until the tri-nations, it would appear as though Fainga'a will get his chance at a Wallaby jersey. TPN will be starting with Fainga'a on the bench.

The only annoying thing about that is that seeing Fainga'a in a Wallabies jersey will remind me of old-hair George Smith. Other than that I'm excited to see, if he is selected, if he can make the step up.

Oops, I think I jynxed Moore.

In other news, has Mitchell done enough to cement a wing spot? I say yes.

Kurtley Beale looks more like a test fullback every week.

2 good games in 2 weeks. Not ready yet, he warrants selection however. There is still AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), Hynes and even O'Connor in front of him IMO
