WALLABIES coach Robbie Deans has given his biggest indication yet that incumbent five-eighth Berrick Barnes could retain the Australian No.10 jersey over returned World Cup playmaker Quade Cooper.

With the oncoming internationals and the wallabies in training camp, who should be selected for the no. 10 position which is so important to the structure of the game.

There was criticism of the way Cooper played in the world cup, but was that in part due to the rigid structure set up by Deans employing centres who went straight up the middle & offered no X factor?
Was Cooper too stereo typed for those games, before Wales where until injured he was given more free rein.

Does Deans in fact have a problem with his style of coaching?

10. Cooper
12. Barnes

I will be surprised if Deans runs with that. On your last point, I'd say he has a problem with most aspects of coaching.

Deans' tactics might've been an issue, but the centre selections certainly were not in respect to Quade's RWC performance.

They weren't a problem during the Tri Nations, and they certainly didn't cause Quade to make the mistakes he made during the RWC.

What I would give for an injury free Lealiifano right about now.

If we were to have a second five style of inside centre he would definitely be the man.

I believe ball running capabilities is more important than distribution skills when it comes to an inside centre, and Lilo's biggest assetts is his ability to cut through defences.

He has a mighty left foot step.

In saying that he would also be a much better alternative at 10 to Cooper than Barnes.

So why not Cooper at 12 again?

Cooper's defence will be as bad at 12, and we've shown that they have no qualms about simply moving him to a different position in defence.

12 will give him more space to do his thing.

Nah, Cooper has to learn to defend at 10.......

We can't keep shifting around players to accommodate such deficiencies.......

Just for once you're right DPK.
Cooper's defence has improved considerably since 2011.
He has worked on it hard during his rehab, and has shown it by two try saving tackles in the game against the Waratahs.
So he shouldn't be put down for that reason.
No one is knocking Barnes'defence, but his play at 10 is quite stereotype. Occasionally he does have a run, but not often and that is why he surprises the defence when he does.

Here's what I'd like to see (in the unlikely event of our 10s, 12s, 13s) being injury free:
1. Lealiifano's rise as the dominant allround (attack/defence/distribution) 10 in the country snares the starting 10 spot off Quade's back.
2. Lealiifano's solid defence in the 10 channel allows Dingo to finally let JOC (James O'Connor) do what he's always wanted and play at 12; he fulfills horan-like potential.
3. McCabe moves to outside centre as his preferred position in response to JOC (James O'Connor)/Barnes/Taps being in front of him.
4. McCabe/Horne/AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)/Ant push each other to the next level with so much competition for 13.
5. Cooper drops Khoder Nasser, learns how to tackle like a beast and reclaims the 10 jersey.
6. Lealiifano becomes backup to Kurtley at FB as well as back up 10.
7. We smash the Kiwi's, get the Bledisloe and win the 2015 world cup.
8. ?????
9. Profit.

Stop ruining our fun Sully. Also, did you know that Higgenbotham is overrated and seagulls all the time, Palmer is a pot plant, McCabe doesn't pass, Timani has shit work rate and Dingo is really a kiwi spy.

You missed out on the optional bonus point answer of Horne is a rubbish ball hog who misses tackles and is made of glass.

Yes you're right of course.
Cooper is the man. He can tackle now. He got in trouble for playing too hard with that boy with that boy from NSW and the guy from Canberra is broken. Oh and Barnes head is too much of a problem
