There are players who are better at coming off the bench than others. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) is a brilliant test player, he's proven that time and time again. He could also be extremely destructive off the bench at the 50 - 60 mark, arguably more than any other Wallaby backline player.
The player who best exemplifies this Palu. He's wasted in the XV where he tires at a faster rate than the opposition. Introduced at 55 mins he could be an absolute wrecking ball. The kind of player that oppositions would have to completely change their defensive pattern/gameplan to contain.

Put it this way Fainga'a would be wasted on the bench. Not enough penetration to be an impact player.
No Elsom: Higgers at 6, Mcalman at 8

I know his form hasn't been great this season, but I think AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has proven himself a consistent Wallaby performer and shouldn't be named on the bench simply due to his impact/ utility value. If he's the best #13 (which IMO he is), then he starts at #13.
For me, the best example of an 'impact player' I can think of would be Radike Samo. He is a wrecking ball.

TPN is another. Inject these guys into the game early in the second half and give the pack a serious lift.
The bench is all important these days and a very strong one will go a long way towards being successful in the RWC, assuming your starting 15 isn't too shabby either.

Didn't say I didn't rate him.....just don't know that he's a 'wrecking ball' at international level - or more specifically against the SH teams. Was he so damaging last time he played in the Wallaby jersey?
For all the noise made about Palu, even here he's been rated as average against NZ and SA - my memories of Samo last time he played Tests doesn't convince me he'll be a lot different.
Of course, he may prove me wrong.....if Dingo picks him.

The good news is that Deans has some selection headaches that most coaches could only dream of.
If Elsom can make it through the Tri Nations in one piece, Dan Vickerman can show that he has still got what it takes and Shmoo gets back on deck sooner rather than later, it is going to be a very tough 30 man squad to pick in a couple of months.
