Palu was invaluable on the 09 EOYT. For making yards in tight space, even from standing start there aren't many like him. I actually rate Nick Easter in this regard.

Palu will walk right back in, We are in need of some go-forward and like mentioned before: players that arent dominated in the tackle and can actually make some yards. McCalman is a decent back-up as it looks like he won't disgrace himself and will work his ass off.

The problem for me however is who should be back-up Hodgeson or McCalman? Dont think there is room for both on the bench once Palu is fit.

Has to be Hodgeson, because, although Pocock appears to be indestructible, if he is injured we will have no one to carry out his role. Hodgeson covers all three positions at a pinch, McCalman only two. That said, if Palu gets injured you'd select McCalman in the run on team for the next match.

As you would know, you need a hard, straight running 8 up North who can graft with the T5 if needed. The no 8's touring up North who have done well are the grafters. I just commented on the Bok thread that Kankowski for instance is not the right kind of 8 to start with up there. Paul is perfect for those conditions . Brown plays the right kind of game but he is physically not imposing enough. For SA the perfect 8 up there is Duane Vermeulen, who is like a Palu clone to me.

I am not going to suggest yet again that Rocky plays 8 but he can definitely play the kind of game needed at 8. That's been done enough. Let's hope Palu can be fit.

Given how many players we have that can play about 20 positions in the back - we have players that can back up almost every position in the run on side, let alone the reserves, a 5/2 split would be sensible. Deans wont go for it of course.
But that could mean we could have both McCalman and Hodgson on the bench.

Fox sports news article up saying TPN is not going to be fit for the start of the spring tour, but Ben Alexander should be available. Same article said Digby Ioane, Cliffy Palu and James Horwill definately out for the spring tour also.

I wouldn't risk TPN. Moore is a more than adequate replacement and I'd rather Taf get right for next season than risk further injury.

That was quite a brutal game for EOYT aspirants.
I don't know if we'll have much of a squad left in 2 weeks time.

According to reports the condition of the ground was an issue in some injuries. McCaffrey also broke his ankle early. Don't know if anyone else was hurt.

Chisholm's injury was his knee, bent the wrong way in the tackle, one of those unlucky things nothing to do with the ground
