Is it a coincidence that the Wallibies only started looking any good when Jimmy came on. I certainly hope the Wallabies fortunes arent dependent on one newbie wingers wayward genius.

IMO the Wallabies are much better with him than without him - but he is not indispensible by any means - he really has great leg speed and drive for a small man

MrTimms tweeted that the weather in the first half was much worse than it looked on TV. That may have had a fair deal to do with it.

Is it a coincidence? Yes.

Does he add something to the team? Sure. He made some good runs and should be in contention for a starting spot in the next game. But we would have beaten Italy by a few tries without him anyway.

I might add I'm not saying he played badly. Just that it dried out a bit and the wind dropped.

Anthony did not have a great game. To be fair it is his first world cup match and everyone is allowed to have a bad day. It was a good call to replace him, i just hope it doesn't knock his confidence around.

But what an option to have on your bench O'Connor appears to be.

What did Ant do wrong. Dropped a ball. and Cooper didn't pass him a ball. how is that a bad game,

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) dropped 3 bombs! did he have a bad game?

Those 'dropped balls' were contested and taken under some tremendous courage.

He wasn't running the right lines a number of times and not backing up in support well either. Cooper had to take ball into contact way too many times.

I am going to put it out there but Dean's and Co know more about Rugby than you and I so i think they made the right choices based upon that also.

The Wobs had done the hard yards through bad weather, cynical reffing and fresh defense. Italy saw ready to crack, and it made Jimmy look pretty good. Given, he is pretty good, but swap the roles and AFinger could have done a job on them as well, probably just not as well.

Without the indiscipline I'd pick JOC (James O'Connor) every time, but I think the benching has been good. Is it just me, or did he look a little hungrier than normal when he ran on.

i dont think its as much about what he did wrong but his lack of involvement. 13 in the wallaby jumper has proven difficult for anyone to lock down outside quade but you would expect more, i would have liked to see him going looking for the ball.

our backs are there to score points as well as defend, whether it be improvement in weather or JOC (James O'Connor)'s involvement we looked alot better after the interchange.

Yes its great to see James O back in the play and had a pretty good performance, hey he even kicked some goals. I think he needs to play every game from now on to regain his confidence in fact it was young James that kinda turned things the Wannabes way so he just coming off the bench changed the whole game. Good to see Mr. Cooper have a reasonable game, I'm picking the forward pack should improve as the WC progresses! The main concern was too many penalties given up and not quite dominating at the break down.

Mr. Pocock was the main one who got blasted by the ref and yes the Wannabes need to keep their mouths shut-not talk back to the ref.
Italy played way above themselves and are to be congratulated for their efforts!

Sides like Italy usually contest the 1st half admirably and then crack a bit some time into the 2nd. I won't say that JOC (James O'Connor) didn't play well, but some commentators and reporters are saying that he provided the 'spark' and I just don't think that's true. And saying that AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) showed tremendous "courage" in contesting those high balls is utter rubbish. Taking those sorts of high balls while under pressure should be one of the staples of a modern winger. As for Ant, I think he should take follow Digby's lead and go looking for ball if it isn't forthcoming.

AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) dropped a similar pass cold in the first twenty minutes. The only way 13 is going to see the ball outside McCabe at 12 when they are playing fairly close, as they were appropriately doing in the wet of the first half, is if Cooper sees him on the outside of his opposite. That's not likely with Ant. Sadly it's currently no more likely at present with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). Get going, Horne.

Cooper kicked ( and kicked really well) for territory a lot until the game broke open.

Yeah Fainga'a didn't have a bad game. He did everything he usually does, great in defence, but he was a little 'flat' in attack.

The team atm is naturally going to have less attacking thrust & flair considering the players that have been replaced. It's a slight concern that we are not putting a lesser team to the sword, but it'll probably serve us better come the knockout stages.

The 'attacking free flowing rugby' idealist in me would like to see Ioane & Mitchell on the wings, with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) in the centres. All 3 are now good defenders and obviously great attackers. However I would struggle to leave Fainga'a out of any team in a final.

On the contrary, I think Australia looked the most impressive of any side last weekend. The issue is that people don't give Italy credit as a competitive team. The ABs should be more concerned about their questionable performance against Tonga.
