It's bitter sweet seeing Kurtley administer himself into a health clinic.

It's definitely the right thing to do personally and professionally for Kurtley. Disappointing we won't see him in action against the BI Lions, but both Kurtley and the Wallabies are best served with him away from the National Team for the immediate term.

Good luck Kurtley and hopefully we see you back in rugby soon.

Hopefully we see a long term benefit. He is an absolutely brilliant player and is undoubtedly a Wallaby. I suspect the fame that comes to these blokes so young is part of the issues they experience behind the scene and fingers crossed the ARU learn how to better handle them. More money and publicity as the professionalism of the sport grows = more problems especially for the inexperienced!

Sorry no, that forward pack is an absolute disaster. Would get blasted at the scrum, no line-out operator if you go for Fotu and 1 legitimate jumper as well.

Here's my current 23 with a bit of hedging:

1. Fat Cat
2. Moore
3. Palmer
4. Douglas
5. Horwill
6. Mowen
7. Smith
8. Palu/Higgers
9. Sanchez
10. Cooper (must defend at 10)
11. Digby
12. Barnes
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) or The Earl or Two-dads (any of them will work)
14. Tomane/ Badger
15. Folau

16. TPN
17. Sio
18. Palu/Higgers
19. Hooper
20. Simmons
21. White
22. O'Connor
23. Alexander

People will be going nuts about Barnes. I'm including him for 3 reasons.
1. His Goalkicking - if this comes down to a dual between us and Halfpenny, Barnes is our best bet.
2. He actually works well with quade
2. Has it all over the welsh and suits these type of games

Forward pack is mobile but also tight and has 4 jumpers (mowen to organise lineouts).

I honestly can't justify swapping any of these backs with JOC (James O'Connor) - I want him for sure - but position for position these other guys are better.

If Deans realy is thinking McCabe then I would prefer A. Fainga at 12 - gives you the same defensive ability and straight running but has a great understanding with Cooper. Cooper and Mccabe have zero chemistry

To be frank, I reckon 'early season form' is worth fuck all. Big players peak when the whips start cracking. Big players keep getting better. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) has kept getting better. Genia, Higgers, George Smith, even Folau are all the same. Unfortunately Taps has gone backwards. Forget the early season, he is nowhere near the Wallabies now, and deservedly so.
Ruggo Despite his supernatural, telepathic, connection with Quade Fainga'a would be fourth choice 12 at best. At the moment he'll be behind Lilo, Taps and Barnes.
Fifth. Horne's excellent play this year would probably have him second or third in the 12 stakes. And we shouldn't underestimate Rob's combination with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper).

Tapuai's recent form is a major disappointment for both him and Oz rugby fans. Last year I was thrilled by his solid inside-centre play (and secretly hoped we'd uncovered a successor to Horan), but it seems it wasn't to be. As baabaa so aptly puts it, "the whips start cracking", and Ben's just rounding the corner. Tapuai's well down in the 12 stakes, behind Barnes, the ring Finger, Horne and Lilo.

Quade and Barnes are a proven combination. Yin Yang stuff and they would tear into the welsh although I would like to see how barnes goes next weekend against the Brumbies. Where will he even fit in? The only issue is his injury liability. Big Centres and a dodgy head aren't a good mix. Still would have JOC (James O'Connor) over Tomane and would put Lilo on the bench.

The Beale situation creates a real conundrum for Deans. I think he was intending to pick him at 15. Now he can't. I think there is a very real possibility of the following:

10. JOC (James O'Connor)
11. Digby
12. Horne/McCabe
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. Folau
15. Barnes

What I would prefer:

10. Cooper
11. Digby
12. Lilo
13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
14. JOC (James O'Connor)
15. Folau (although swapping him and JOC (James O'Connor) would be fine too)

It's heartening to see so many amateur selectors have a go (on G&GR and elsewhere) but if you can't get props on their correct side, stay in the grandstand! Read the earlier posts on this thread, Robbo's an expert LHP. He can't play test level THP. Equally, Palmer's shit in the #1 jumper at test level, he'd get mullered by any Super side.

Carry on.

Mogg won't play. Neither will Cooper or Lealiifano.

Mogg, Cooper, Lealiifano, Beale, Barnes, JO'C and Mitchell are the Wallabies' kicking options. So now, Mogg, Cooper and Lealiifano won't play according to Sully; Beale is now out of contention surely, and Mitchell probably won't make the run on team in present form. Looks like Barnes and JO'C are shoo-ins for 10 and 15. Heaven help us.

Back 3 should look something like Digby and JO'C (if his form holds up - missed some awful tackles before he was injured last week) on wings, and Folau at 15. Izzy showed he can kick, but prefers to run the ball which is as it should be. QC (Quade Cooper) for 10 and Lealiifano at 12 will give us all the kicking options we need as well as the attacking skills to put the Lions to the sword.

A few problems here.
Deans is a perennial conservative and will not start Palmer, Mowen, Tomane and Folau, as they have 2 tests between them. If some are not omitted by Deans, they will start off the bench, with 90 seconds to go.

Cooper will not be in the 23 at all, as Deans will play Barnes or JOC (James O'Connor), or Lealiifano, in that order at 10.

And although he has been entertaining the notion of playing Mr G Smith, from all reports he has not been in contact with him since that Reds-Brumbies match (may not be the case but I'm unaware of it).

the lions will target him said:
I have to disagree. IMO the Stormers' defence is stronger than the Lions is likely to be. Izzy will do very nicely when he plays as he does.

What is all the fear and fuss about the Lions. They are really just a slightly improved version of Wales on paper, but their combinations between players from the different home nations will probably not be as good. The right Wallabies team playing the right game will have little to fear I suspect.

i can see why everyones getting palmer and robinson mixed up- they are just props after all- really just there for restarts and to give the backs someone to run around in broken field play... right?
edit> and ill ad the restarts are usually because a forward has gotten lost in the fast pace of the game and found themselves in the backline and subsequently dropped the ball
