codex, mate, i like your style. this is my first post too. i'm a diehard wallabies/tahs fan and i've always been optimistic about my teams - always respected the decisions of coaches cos i figure hey, that's their job, they know more about this than me. but i draw a line at tonight. i have never been so disappointed after a game. i don't care about the conditions, about the unblooded players, about the scheduling issues - the all blacks, the south africans, the french; all those teams would have found a way to win the game.

the wallabies don't believe they can win games anymore. it's something you can see every time the bledisloe rolls around. more often than not we score early, go into the sheds at half time in the lead and the kiwis aren't the slightest bit worried because they know they can bring it back.

it wasn't any one player's fault tonight, although genia was too slow and barnes' confidence is rattled after having endured the wrath of nsw fans all season. i agree with o'connor being our best bet for long term no. 10. he looked every bit the goods in the world cup. he's a calm, skilled player that works off the team rather than relying on individual brilliance (QC (Quade Cooper)).

i know we'll get back there one day. in the meantime, i don't think it's unjust to expect to beat scotland any day of the week, in any conditions, with whoever has the honour of playing in a gold jersey.

Welcome back naza :)

Thanks. Hope I'm not overreacting. Watching the Wallabies is like Michael J Fox's wife hoping he doesn't make a mess in the bathroom. At a certain point you just have to give up don't you ?

The only thing I missed seeing was a lack of Elsom. I miss seeing Rocky getting thrown about like one of Matthew Newton's girlfriends. Ah, good times.

It's all about the blame game now, isn't it. I'll limit myself to two brickbats.

1. JON and the ARU. This was the stupidest fucking scheduling decision I have ever seen. I made this point well before the game, for fuck's sake we all did. Stevie Wonder did. We had absolutely NOTHING to gain from this fixture. It smacked of arrogance, and we got what we deserved. I actually feel sorry for the coaches and players for being thrust into such a game. We were on a hiding to nothing, and are now right behind the 8-ball for Wales on Saturday.

Yep, that's my point. I don't blame the players and I don't really blame Deans either. They were hamstrung by the sheer idiocy of the scheduling decision.

I thought it was a very strange comment to make, for someone who had not watched the game. Trying to create controversy where there actually wasn't any. I think referees give us fans enough reasons to be critical of them without us going looking for areas to criticise them.

Fair enough. It wasn't my intention, but if (at least) one person saw it that way then I'll think twice before such a post next time. Cheers.

Completely off topic, did anyone else think that the singer of the national anthem stuffed the words. I thought he said 'with noble soil, instead of with golden soil'. Maybe a bad omen from the start.

More importantly, I also thought you could see the ball on the ground in the very first camera angle when viewing Simmons no try.

I figure while we're blaming people we might as well slip the boot into the bloke who sang the anthem as well.

I noticed both of these things too. I was sure I saw the ball on the ground at the end of the first replay but they didn't show it again

F**k this game, where's those memory erasing devices from Men In Black when you need them?

The 22 won't change on Saturday, I predict a loss, with changes to come T2 in Melbourne.

How about that Scotland hooker? The lunchtime pub-goers back in Edinburgh would have been spitting chips in the last 20 minutes.

What gets me is the slow delivery of the ball from the rucks and mauls. I am not necessarily blaming Genia, but why do halfbacks have what I call the Gregan disease....there isa ruck and maul and the half back sits over the top of directing traffic instead of letting the ball go.... Time and time again the ball was slow...the Wallabies looked most effectively with quick ball. And what is worse we have a kiwi coach...they play quick ball.

The conditions were shit, why play a game..slow ball in the forwards..that suit the opposition....

Actually I thought he darted a number of times. I think you were right to not want to blame one player. It wasn't any single players fault.

If Genia has prosecuted the quick ball option a few times we would have won. No doubt about it. I watched the game with Jonnosan and we thought it was like Genia had to ask the Sweaties permission to pick the ball up.

"You blokes ready?"
"Aye!"
"You sure?"
"Aye"
"Ok, here we come."

Can anyone ever remember Robbie Deans outcoaching another team. Remember when Australia used to be feared for their ability out think another team. Beat them with smarts.

Robbie Deans has dumbed down the Wallabies, assuming raw skill like the Kiwi teams produce will be good enough to win. The end result is he gets out coached by every coach he comes up against and the Wallabies lose.

Back on the boat Deans.

Genia didn't give up the last scrum penalty, or scrummage badly in the couple of previos scrums, he didn't kick the ball dead 40 metres out, he didn't miss a penalty kick or elect not to kick for goal when we had a better opportunity. He didn't stuff up a drive off a line out and get isolated and therefore give away a penalty. He dropped the ball a couple of times, but so did a number of others.

If your point is that Genia had a bad game - fair enough. If your point is that we should play quick ball a lot more than we do, I 100% agree.

If you think we lost the game (or failed to win it) solely due to Genia then I completely disagree.
