Wallabies vs All Blacks 10th August @Optus Stadium Perth

Hey, did anyone see the Wallabies breathing technique after they scored a try? They all breathed in and out together a couple of times. Did they do this in the last couple of games or is it new? It reminds me of a certain successful school boy team that does this (or at least, use to).

I believe a lot of the breathing exercises were done at the brumbies this year. I noticed during the game that CLL was marshalling the players together and chatting to them. Very calming influence I suspect!

They've been doing meditation work with a Sydney meditation teacher.

Scott Barrett suspended for 3 weeks. He is only suspended until 1 September which means he won't miss any RWC games.

Somehow they've decided that his playing schedule includes a Mitre 10 Cup game given the All Blacks only have two tests left (us and Tonga).

the act of foul play merited a mid-range entry point of 6 weeks due to World Rugby instructions that dictate any incident of foul play which results in contact with the head and/or neck must start at a mid-range level. However, taking into account mitigating factors including the Player's exemplary judicial record, his expressed remorse and the fact the Player has pleaded guilty at the first available opportunity, the Foul Play Review Committee reduced the suspension to 3 weeks.

Apparently 2 Mitre-10 Cup matches according the the NZ Herald

He will miss this weekend's test against Australia but will be free to play in the All Blacks' final warm-up test against Tonga on September 7.

LOL. Seems entirely plausible after the injury to Retallick that the All Blacks would have scheduled more rugby for one of their key locks whose Super Rugby side played right through to the final.

It still amazes me that these loopholes are available to be exploited.

Surely there needs to be a change if the incident occurred at international level, the suspension is severed at that level or at very least Super rugby?? Not saying this is only a Kiwi thing either. Plenty of aussie super rugby players serving suspensions via club rugby etc..

I'm all for it when it means a Wallaby is suddenly not available to play for the Rebel Rising or whatnot

He is actually contracted to play Mitre 10 cup if not needed by ABs, don't know if any of you noticed but SBW was playing for CM on weekend. Actually it exactly what I thought would happen, 6 weeks cut in half, it usual for players with reasonable records. though didn't realise he would play against Tonga, but lets face it if that counted a few would moan because it not a RC match so shouldn't count;)

Of course he's contracted he a Mitre 10 Cup team.

I did notice that SBW played for Counties but he has barely played all season and is trying to get match fitness in his return from another injury.

Are you telling me that you're expecting the bulk of the All Blacks to front up for their Mitre 10 Cup sides in the 2 weeks following this Saturday's Bledisloe? I expect very few of them will be playing.

I have a number of Kiwi supporting colleagues, and they are great sporting types when their teams win (Crusaders and All Blacks) , which is pretty much most of the time.

You should have seen the howls of despair after Saturday's game, blaming the ref, blaming the decisions, and every excuse under the sun. This is what happens when, after so many years of success on the rugby pitch, they get this almost sense of entitlement of winning.

Pathetic really. Just like the article linked to above.

Well guess that shows up where you work Piglet, I am a kiwi, and none of the kiwis I know here had anything to but praise for how well the Wallabies played, and all thought it was a well deserved victory. of course you will get some idiots finding fault with the ref, come in here whenever the Wallabies lose and I know you will find the same, you will also find in here the actual very good Rugby supporters of wallabies/SA or NZ giving credit where it is deserved. I think perhaps you should listen to AB coach and see what he said and maybe compare it to another coach ? mate most of what we read in articles like that are to attract readers among the not too bright.

They stopped suspending players for "x weeks" to stop everyone* counting games the suspended player was never realistically going to play. Now it's "y weeks" instead & three weeks from 10 August is 31 August therefore he's available from 1 September. Penalty-wise he's got the fairly standard half-measure (early guilty plea, clean(ish) record, said all the right things at the right times, etc) so I don't see why people think there's a problem here - unless, of course, it's that three weeks isn't enough which is a whole different argument IMO.

*including Hooper's 2015 one-match suspension for flattening Sanchez which he served by missing a Shute Shield game, thereby becoming available for a Bledisloe the following week.

SANZAAR changed it in 2017 to remove the loophole that bye weeks could be counted towards a suspension (suggesting that the club game was never going to happen and therefore didn't count).

Clearly it's the end of the SANZAAR competition so they can't apply that methodology to games afterwards.

I have no real issue with it and think the 3 week suspension is exactly what should have been expected. It's just a bit amusing because everyone knows that the suspension is actually only one game and the timing of it is pretty lucky for Barrett.

I agree with what you saying Braveheart, but to follow that through we would have to then do a fitness test on all stood down players, because if they not fit they couldn't play etc, so it not really a stand down. We could be real dumb and say ok it happened in RC so he has to stand down in RC matches etc, all in all I do think they have it as fair as they can.

Idiots? Here? Sorry mate, I think you're a bit confused.

Unless you are suggesting our rigorous IQ-based application system has malfunctioned in some way....

Damn Baabaa, you right of course and I remember having to cheat on my exam to get accepted in here!!

On your second point, are you saying the three weeks should be for next year's Super Rugby, that being the next SANZAAR tournament? Righto then, he's available for Bled2 :).
