On your second point, are you saying the three weeks should be for next year's Super Rugby, that being the next SANZAAR tournament? Righto then, he's available for Bled2 :).

Hehehe. I'm saying that if he'd received a one match suspension against South Africa he wouldn't have been allowed to play against Australia last weekend. Under the old rules that Hooper used in 2015 he would have been able to by "playing a game" in the week off.

Personally I like rugby's way of counting suspensions across all forms of the game versus soccer where suspensions are for a specific competition. There will always be loopholes and I think they generally have the balance right.

That said, he was pretty ineffectual in that first half last Saturday so maybe I do want him to play this weekend. ;)

Well guess that shows up where you work Piglet, I am a kiwi, and none of the kiwis I know here had anything to but praise for how well the Wallabies played, and all thought it was a well deserved victory. of course you will get some idiots finding fault with the ref, come in here whenever the Wallabies lose and I know you will find the same, you will also find in here the actual very good Rugby supporters of wallabies/SA or NZ giving credit where it is deserved. I think perhaps you should listen to AB coach and see what he said and maybe compare it to another coach ? mate most of what we read in articles like that are to attract readers among the not too bright.
Sometimes people learn the mannerisms of the people in their surroundings - hence the bleating Kiwis living in Aus?

Just a joke, but worth looking into.

Most of the incidents in this report don't bother me but it's a good comeback, much better than the AB media's claims of there being 14 neck rolls and only showing the evidence for 1 of them.
Call it what it is - sensationalism, exploitative journalism, click-bait, or yellow press.

All in the name of hyping the game & making money (used to be selling papers, but nowadays ads and / or subscriptions is the focus).

Maybe. I don’t mind the bicker. (even bitching) so much. It’s the constant immodest and inaccurate claim of “the self-deprecating Kiwi” that goes with it.

ofc plenty of Kiwis here who don’t deserve to share the generalisation.

"Yellow journalism and the yellow press are American terms for journalism and associated newspapers that present little or no legitimate well-researched news while instead using eye-catching headlines for increased sales. Techniques may include exaggerations of news events, scandal-mongering, or sensationalism."

You know you are doing something right when you have a Kiwi loosie complaining about neck rolls.

That said, i think media beat up is a play a la Marler boring in. We'll have to be disciplined.

See KOB, your comment would seem a little more sensible if you didn't show how ummm ,what't the word for it, stupid it is? The ABs don't have any media, anymore than Wallabies, or Boks, Welsh RU etcetc, and too suggest otherwise it either just trolling or showing how little you know how things work.

I suppose he's referring to the one-eyed press at home in NZ and alluding to them printing material pushed by NZ rugby, which isn't too much of a stretch to be honest.

Does this post mean you are NOT of the opinion that the very existence of Rugby Union Football is purposed towards bringing good cheer to the people of New Zealand?

I'm sorry but WHAT THE HELL?

It is bizarre to think I actually walk the earth among people of this persuasion. In everyday life. I may have even inadvertently spoken to some of them. They are surely akin to aliens, their incomprehensible and indecipherable brain receptors miraculously allowing them to perform human-like functions on a near-daily basis.

Actually, I think that "self deprecating" is a tag that reasonably fits rugby as a sport, it's just not a Kiwi thing or monopoly. Kiwis are welcome to skite, god knows the evidence is there to support it. And I don't have an issue with your claim here either. I'll just pass on it though I could see myself making the argument if I were a Kiwi. So far I haven't seen you back this up with "hey, and we're such good sports about it!" Or at least not in a way that I can take seriously.

In general, there has been a lot of Aussie whinging on this website. Refs and selections mostly.
Also, NZ smugness and condescension.
It is good to have a week of role reversal.
Can I remind the Aussie fan base that it was just one game.
Can I also remind the Aussie fan base of what a fucking joy it was to watch a well selected team actually play to its potential. And the reffing was superb on Saturday night. #keepthesamerefs.

I want to hang on to this one. A rare period of genuine enthusiasm for Australian rugby.

Somehow the game got deleted from my TV. Is there anywhere I can do a download?
