PS – anybody else notice a sneaky Burger hand around Pocock's eyes?

It should have at least been cited. Fingers towards eyes then raking across. In fact I think there is enough to receive a suspension - this sort of action needs to be stamped out, even if Burger didn't mean it he could have accidently scratched Pocock's eye leading to reasonably serious damage. Burger should stick to using his palm or elbow if he wants to have a go at another player's face.

I promised myself that I am not going to get upset. Like Mrs Blue regularly tells me "Get a grip on yourself. It's only a game."

Div inherited a well oiled machine with all the parts working well and at the peak of their powers. So in comes the changes in the law interpretations, a few injuries, loss of form for a few players and fatigue for a few of them too and suddenly the machine requires the coaching staff to intervene, provide leadership in selection, change the game plan, and guide the team through a downward curve. They have been shown up to not posses the skills and courage to do this.

I know it's not test rugby but the SA coaches adapted very well to the new breakdown, and proved that we have the personnel to contest and even dominate. The Stormers and even more so the Bulls surprised all with the type of game they played. And the Stormers showed us how to defend under the new interpretation with a very clever defensive structure using two sweepers behind the line.

Now in the test arena we don't seem to have the ability to translate that success.

Our coaches are headless chooks at the moment and our stars are out of form. A good start would be to pick the right people and rest guys who look out of puff.

Having said all of this, the reality is that like with everything else in life, what goes up must come down at some stage and this is the comedown.

Changing the game plan seems to be a problem for the boks at the moment. I can't believe that the exact same opposition plan has worked against them 3 weeks running. If nothing changes, I suspect that there will be a very barren 3N for SA. This sticks in the craw somewhat given the success in S14 with somewhat innovative teams.

I think Pocock would have "reacted" a bit more if it were more than Burger trying to "get up".

Nothing in it for me either.

Pocock had a whale of a game IMO. Was everywhere at the collisions. Made it very difficult for the Boks to get clean ball and more importantly his ability to stay on the field despite numerous penalties was right up there with McCaw and Smith.

He is a a class act but was handed a license by the Boks who had the fucking brilliant brain wave of playing no openside. Burger's frustration sprung from being outplayed in a contest he should not have been forced to enter in the first place.

Dropping Louw now looks even more stupid. Hindsight in this case is a 100% perfect science...

Hey PaarlBok,
How is the Saffar media dealing with the recent losses? I would imagine that they are calling for heads to roll?

How secure is PdV and his assistants?

Think our press is not close for calling heads, sound more like Ratpoo in NZ who wants this but he look like changing his mind week by week. The one week the All Blacks is kak, next week its the Bokke turn, hell even Bobbejaansberg is bad for him.

Snor has a contract, merit based till after the WC next year, he is still in front of Jake Whites % , so he cant be in trouble at this moment. Two losses vs the Nr 1 rated team , so what? A week is a long time in rugby. If we lose at home , that may change the thinking. Also dont read to much Keo, he sort of jump pretty quick on wagons.

Hey PaarlBok, Any update.

Things must be heating up in Safferland now for PdV and co.

The next games at home and at altitude will undoubtedly make a big difference for the Saffer chances.

Major change needed in tactics, and minor changes needed in playing roster. Very difficult to make playing roster changes when on tour.

Look out for the cornered Bokke. Next few tests will be nowhere as one sided as the recent contests.

I remember the match in 2006 or 2007 in South Africa where we lost because of some outrageous Steyn drop goals - Burger was running with the ball towards Giteau and just poked him in the eyes as Giteau went to make the tackle on him. Burger does not play in the spirit of the game and should be banned from international rugby.

That brings back memories though what he did in the B&I Lions match was much worse and more memorable.

It's a great pity as he seems like an affable man who is popular and is the type of player who we wag our heads at in reluctant appreciation when he is opposing our teams.

Having seen the replay in the post I don't think there's a lot in it either now but 3 incidents indicates a bad habit.

And not to the point but how come the view of eye gouging has been diluted in recent years by the powers that be? Nearly 20 years ago Richard Loe was suspended for 9 months for gouging Greg Cooper in an NPC match and Schalk got 8 weeks for doing the same to Luke Fitzgerald. It was bloody horrible.

It needs to be gouged out, speared into the turf of history, with a sly forearm to the throat, and off the ball.

We should give the job to the Saffas. The Kiwis would merely go off their feet and lie all over it.

Dare I say, killed, buried and cremated? In that order.

As I just mentioned on another post there was footage of Januarie doing the same thing to Mortlock a couple of years ago. It is an incredibly dodgy and dirty act that has to be stamped out of the game.

It's a great pity as he seems like an affable man who is popular and is the type of player who we wag our heads at in reluctant appreciation when he is opposing our teams.

There is no reluctant appreciation here unfortunately Lee. He lost that when he abused a touch judge, was deemed never to be returned when he went the gouge, and the fact that he continues to rake at players faces just shows he is a dirty grub on the field. No matter what he is like off the field I can not respect or appreciate someone that plays like that.

Congrats to the Wallabies. They was just to good for us in this test. The played the right game plan with ball in hand , time after time. Elsom my MOTM for them. Just hope this test will give them the confidense going in the All Black tests. They have a big account to recon and this will be the one to show if they are going to make amends. Much better performance compare to what I saw against the Poms.

Blue pretty much summed it up from a Bok point of view. If Snor want to make a wise move, appoint the Stormers defensive coach immediately. Muir simply dont have it , like he show us with the Lions.

The only positive I saw was the way some of the substitutes played. Thought Potgieter and de Jongh show at least a bit of hunger and passion and should have started in this away tests.

Back to the drawing board for us and I still dont see the right direction. They released the wrong players for CC duty and should have released the whole vokken lot to let them play and get back on speed. Not a single Bok deserve to take a break at this moment and a few should have been demoted back to their provinces and a few youngsters should have been took on a month long camp to get them ready for the home leg.

Which players did they release? Do you reckon there is any chance Fourie would have been released if he'd been available?

You talking about Mossie? He has been playing all year and is a senior Bok, so no I dont think he would have been release and would have been rested anyway.
