Thank you Braveheart81, sanity at last!

One of my favourite Wallabies, Chris Latham, played every match with his socks down, but had the courtesy to show respect for the anthems.

Sorry to break it to you Doug, but Respect for anthems has nothing to do with socks.

And in saying that, Latho probably had his socks down when the Wallabies went with the full track suits to "negate" the impact of the haka....

Yep keep living in the past - 2011 seems about right for your aspirations.
Irrelevant drivel from you as usual - he still passes just as poorly only he is now playing for the tahs, so you have changed your tune and are pushing his barrow.

I heard that the wallaby after match function was cancelled and that the player's families had to drive down to Sanctuary Cove after the game if the wanted to see them (including Sam Carter's family who had come interstate for the game).

Anyone know the reason why it was cancelled.

I disagree. For the speed with which Cheika has him clearing the ball, he passes very well. If he stopped, looked around, pointed a bit and nominated a static forward runner (old-Tahs style, also seen in other teams at times) I would expect every pass on the money. He goes off in the latter part of the games a bit, partly as the organisation of the forward runners gets scrappy and partly because he is knackered (I think) but this season particularly for the Tahs, his fast and mostly flat service has been a boon, not a millstone. He has been a critical element in the improvement at the Tahs.

I disagree.
Fair enough, blue coloured glasses will do that.

Not in the tah games I have been watching (which is most - but not all).

It's even more ridiculous that he couldn't even beat Rod Davies in the passing section of the volvo challenge - that's a halfback vs a winger (a winger that *most* of you constantly rubbish as being shit).

It's his friggen specialty and a winger beats him 7 - 5 ffs.

I don't think he has been a critical element at all.

Well, I think you're wrong, but not much point discussing it any further I guess.
Strange someone like McKenzie, who selected and prepared players so adroitly in Qld, has so clearly lost the plot then.

Go read a few Tahs match threads where I've panned him mercilessly, both from the TV and the ground.

But his last month has probably seen the peak of his playing ability, and the occasional bad pass is still there. This is the trade off for speed of delivery on which the Tahs and Wallabies want to play.

You could argue with popularity, but you'd be wrong.

I've rewatched the game, and for the 20 or so minutes Phipps was on, his passing was not all that bad. Yeah maybe there were half a dozen loopy passes, but did his 'poor passing' lead to the two France tries? At least he isn't kicking.

Certain people want to see Phipps, McCalman, Horwill, Cowan omitted because they came on and then France scored two answered tries in the last 10. It's not a justification but that was largely down to France pulling the finger out and the Wallabies taking it easy.

The game is not going to be won or lost at scrumhalf anyway. Genia is going to get a run this year, possibly as early as the third French test. No need to get irate.

Also a bit rich of you to call someone out for championing a player from their provincial team.

Agree, @Bairdy - but it's not blindly "championing" him because he's a Waratah (as @gel suggested by referring to "blue-tinted glasses") - I try to put a bit more thought into my assessment of players than that. As @Pfitzy said, many have rightly panned him before. But in the last month or so of Super Rugby, he has played bloody well, and this has been the best period for the Tahs for yonks. No, he isn't the sole reason, but his style of play is a big part of what Cheika is doing. I guess McKenzie sees something in that.
Like for many players, the labelling sticks, and some will only ever see them one way. You can't really debate with that.

Why is that rich?

I have championed players from all the teams at various times.

This is what shits me to tears:

You hypocrites deride the Queenslanders non stop and it is fucking tiresome because you do the EXACT same thing all the time - and you do it either the exact same amount or more often. Read all your own posts FFS - you all do it.

On the specific Genia issue: I don't particularly care at this point in time because White is playing better and should be there for the full game anyway.

I am irate at the constant hypocritical behavior of the ## like @Phitzy (and others) with his constant non stop arsehattery on this forum.

Not irate at any Genia omission - haven't suggested anything myself.
## this language will not be tolerated. The next person that pulls the c-word out is getting a long rest.

Sit down and have a breather mate. The cheese has fallen off your biscuit.

Genia isn't there because apart from one game his form has been very ordinary, without even considering the other options. When those other options are considered, his form in comparison to theirs precludes selection.

The Qlders who have shown improved skill execution and form or a solid trend in form have been selected, and at the Test on the weekend speaking with my Qld mates most agreed with the selections made in this squad, and the starting/reserves.

Yes.

OT: I like the squad that's been chosen. Perhaps Genia, Horwill and Simmons can count themselves a little lucky based on this season's form, but it is somewhat understandable why they are in there.

WTF? - read what I fucking wrote.

I was even surprised that there was more than one Queenslander in the squad, let alone in the team.

It has NOTHING to do with who is in the team and who isn't - it has everything to do with everyone assuming it is down to petty provincialism, when you *all* do it yourselves - constantly.

How am I using "rose tinted glasses" and 'biased" if I expected LESS reds than there were????

I am specifically talking about the queensland fans - not the players actually.

I think Phipps's style of play lends himself to being an effective bench halfback. Very quick service, loves a sniping run, rarely kicks the ball. Well suited if your team is chasing the game. If Link wants to use him on the bench, i cant get too upset. But I really hope that Link does have plans to bring Genia back into the 23.

Nobody actually said you were. Calm down. @Gnostic was trying to be conciliatory, I think.
You did dismiss my post as being the product of "blue-tinted lasses", which I assume meant glasses. You're painting in some broad strokes here at a few people. I'm not sure it's warranted in all cases.
