The bottom line Slim, is that we don't have an International quality 10. That is why some of our tactics seem to be to keep the 10 out of most of it and use them as a 2nd/3rd line of attack.I would say that the performances of the other flyhalves this year (and last) vindicated Schmidt's decision to stick with Lolesio...
But that decision was also supported by his SRP (Super Rugby Pacific) (Super Rugby Pacific) form.

With the game in London we're all working off of GMTIt's not that I disagree it's just these words start a 6 page run of comparisons that has been repeated weekly since the Lions. We're actually late this week being Thursday
Had you nothing to say, regarding tactics around our 10, whoever it is? Also, who do we stick with it, assuming Noah is not it.It's not that I disagree it's just these words start a 6 page run of comparisons that has been repeated weekly since the Lions. We're actually late this week being Thursday
I’m not sure how you reached the conclusion that Rennie rated him his number 1. I thought Rennie was quite brutal the way he cast him aside a couple of times. Can’t have been great for his confidence (I believe Lolesio has even come out and said as much.)I actually can say that, I just did. FYI when someone prefaces a sentence by saying "I think" this means the following statement is a value judgement, an opinion that that person holds, and as such it is not necessary a statement of objective fact. This opinion was also shared by Rennie and Schmidt, so it's not entirely unreasonable.
Plucked from the Nrl and straight onto a Wallaby tour after being injured for a fair while of his nrl stint and zero rugby for over 18 months. Now on tour, is injured. But he's our saviour. Gee whiz. Joe is clutching at straws now. Edmed is pedestrian to. The Poms won't let this Test slip.Gordon still out with a quad strain
Well, what's he supposed to clutch at? Not exactly flush with options there are we. Fact is Lolesio, Donno, Lynagh (we know how you feel with him), JOC (James O'Connor) and Tane have all come in and not been able to nail down the position for various reasons.Plucked from the Nrl and straight onto a Wallaby tour after being injured for a fair while of his nrl stint and zero rugby for over 18 months. Yoda, I think you are right, but it all depends on the boys' top 2". If they get into 'that' frame of mind and stick with it for 80 they can do it.Plucked from the Nrl and straight onto a Wallaby tour after being injured for a fair while of his nrl stint and zero rugby for over 18 months. Could have done it at 7 or 8pm Sydney time, which is 9 or 10am in UK. If he did it at 7.45 he would have made the news..Squad announced at 11pm
Talk about reducing interest for away games
We have to consider it official RA policy now.Squad announced at 11pm

What's it really matter? Watch the game and you'll see who's playing. Hardly expecting any big surprises.Squad announced at 11pm

For all we know, Schmidt is waiting to see if Lukhan Salakaia-Loto & Carter Gordon ( & possibly others) are fit to play, and needs this last practice session in the UK to make decisions. This is more important than satisfying the whims of vocal fans in Aussi who want a rugby fix before they go to bed.Could have done it at 7 or 8pm Sydney time, which is 9 or 10am in UK. Part of the reason only online nuffies care anymore is because they've gone out of their way to not boost interest in their entertainment-based product for 20+ years.Precisely…
I don’t know why they would want to finalise the team first thing Thursday morning just to appease some nuffies online.
I guess my beef with Schmidt is that Noah was his main man and was injured. Donno was back up in Fiji Test. And Noah had played some 30 starting Tests and didnt nail it. Then Schmidt rightly or wrongly picks Lynagh as his starting 10 for the Lions with Donno as back up. That was a big call in my book. Then Lynagh out and JOC (James O'Connor) called in to start in South Africa with Donno back up again but Donno gets injured. Then in comes old mate Edmed and he is hardly killing it. Donno gets better and is still not wanted for games v Argentina or All Blacks. Then gets brushed for this tour by Edmed and Gordon who, lets face it had his moments but has been injured most of his NRL stint, hasn't played a game of rugby for a long time and is injured again now on tour. So Donno goes from 2nd in 10 ranks to 6 if you count Hamish Stewart filling in so far and probably v England as well. You'd understand totally if all these guys are WAY better than Donaldson but they are not. I would have thought this tour was a chance for Donaldson to start all Tests as 10 to see how he goes with mostly full games. Yet it looks like Edmed will get that chance ... and he wasn't rated at the Tahs. Then there is Declan Meredith who I rate and he may be starting 10 at the Brums next year. I know it's a touchy subject but I just feel for Donaldson as he played off the bench well v Fiji and the Lions. Now not wanted. Harsh in my book.Well, what's he supposed to clutch at? In any case 12 months ago he plonked JAS straight in the fire and he hadn't played a single pro or semi-pro rugby game in his life! So, I suggest he knows a bit. Also Gordon is not the saviour, unless by saviour you mean does his core role well with minimal errors? He's a straight up a damn good football and flyhalf in particular, who can play multiple positions, and he wouldn't have lost that in less than 18months. He's just a piece of the puzzle that helps the team compete, just like a THP being able to hold up a scrum.
