Come on guys, we didn't lose because they cheated. It is up to the refs to call the fouls, not the ABs to self-police. If we had some harder heads out there, we would have won. And if Giteau could kick.

Absolutely Cyclo. The immediate retreat to ref-bashing is a road to nowhere but a soft analysis of the loss that won't stand scrutiny in 24 hours.

Bahaha to those who think we lost rather than the All Blacks winning have to re-watch that game. The All Blacks were fucking immense in the last 20minutes and deserve every single bit of that victory.

McCalman was a massive positive as is the continuing development of Beale.

Genia was anywhere near as bad as some are suggesting, and his work helped set up AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)'s try. It wasn't like Burgess made a difference to our attack when he came on, it was just the ABs were very good in defense close to the ruck.

I saw the Pocock vs McCaw battle actually go towards Pocock. Especially when you take into account the very contentious calls he got against him (and by contentious I mean incorrect in the context of how the rest of the 3N has been reffed). Pocock made at least 3 more legal steals by my count that were wrongly penalties. That would have brought his turnovers to something like 5 or 6 for the game.

Giteau fell back into his bad habit of not following through. As a result pulls all his kicks - or is it just that he can't kick in Sydney?

What happened to the wonder kicking coach we just signed up from SA? - Kicking cost us the game and the misses were all from the easiest side for a left footer

Agree with McCalman and Beale. I think Genia is not fully fit - he was slow to the breakdown quite a bit, his passing was more loopy than usual. Not his best game. Not crap though. Cooper got too deep as the game went on, Giteau was useless apart from some good kicking from hand. Turner to stay at wing, O'Connor to 12 for me. Giteau needs a reality check.

How is it that both the assistant ref and main ref, standing right next to the scrum can't see that McCaw clearly detatches prior to the ball being out. I mean, how much more obvious can it get. For him to already be in position to receive a pass when Reid picks it up from the scrum means that he either has a time machine, he is the half back, or it is a clear penalty. Fuck me it can't get anymore obvious than that.

How do they keep getting the best of the calls from these referees (particularly south african ones)? It wasn't like they were getting the rub of the green because they had clearly dominanted the match. It wasn't like they were getting calls due to being the home team. I just can't understand why such crucial decisions go in their favour (and I know we had a few such as the Nonu high tackle, but it was hardly game changing).

Because the saffas and the kiwis think they are somehow above us and want to preserve there status as the best.

Sacking Deans isnt the answer, but giving him a kick up the arse is.

.....Turner was really good. Giteau not bad (apart from his kicking)

Turner should have been in the squad for months now. This being his first run, what would he have achieved if started in Melbourne and given a few games to build?

Austin!! How could a commentator/analyst of your calibre indulge Giteau/this team with 'Giteau not bad (apart from his kicking)'? Giteau should be benched or out for a (long) rest - surely, surely, tonight proves that. When will our indulgence of him ever end? The relentless persistence with Giteau is one of our largest problems. Then he has one 'improving' game (in RSA), and we seem to fall back in love with him all over again.

Wow looking at the match stats on fox now. We only managed 1 x 7+ phases, and only did 3 pick and drives. Says something about the forwards not getting to the ruck quickly enough.

To all the posters singing the same song "...That much closer, bad ref calls" etc need to take a step back

The Blacks won on merit alone. They wrapped up the Bled and Tri-Nations but still managed to find an extra gear with the Wallabies having all to play for.

No DC, playing away from home - outstanding last 20 minutes, kicking for touch on penalties. They dug deep and came up with the goods. What more is there left to say really.

We can't close games out and that has become a reoccurring issue along with kicking for posts and defence in the 10/12 channel. Address this, get troops back from injury and then and only then can we talk about a resurrection of Australian rugby. Right now, we're happy with a win over the Kiwis, they haven't lost to the Wallabies since 2008! 9 odd tests in a row. We need to re-check ourselves.

On another note, agree with Richie peeling off the scrum early. Big call with massive repercussions.

Well played Blacks.

No they're not. They constantly cheat, and while we have calls go our way some times, we dont constantly cheat. Its fucking bullshit what they get away with.

Watch the series of rucks when the All Blacks were attacking our line and tell me the Wallabies dont cheat - there was one ruck a wallaby curled up to prevent the ball coming out in front of the posts - both sides are at it. I have noticed one thing - when Pocock gets caught out he walks around with his hands in the air pretending not to be guilty - its a dead give away and his harassment of the ref did not do the Wallabies any favours after 70 mins. Its there every week and the refs will swap notes

That is my point, without that score the ABs did not win. McCaw IS a cheat. He cheats constantly and it is not pushing the boundaries with split second judgement calls at the ruck. That scrum was a set move, it was illegal end of. Add in the first penalty that was not take 10 points off the ABs. The Wallabies did not lose so much as the refereeing decided this game. Considering I bet on a AB win I expected them to win this game, but in my book they did not.

Notice how in nearly ever game the Wallabies Locks are told not to crutch bind they must cross bind. This is correct but it tells me the refs spend a lot of time reviewing the Wallabies (and the Boks) as that is a very hard thing to spot before the scrum is packed and then the ref will be watching the tunnel and props, but given how the ABs continuously get away with this illegal play it is obvious that they are looked at differently.

O'Connor needs to be dropped as well. Too many young gun cowboys starting who don't deserve it when you have guys like Barnes and Turner in the wings who are suited to test match rugby. Mitchell and Turner for wings.

Are you saying that the selections were wrong?? Its seems this comes up every week as an issue so what is the real issue - the proverbial elephant in the room??. Turner has been playing really well all year and despite being ignored has even done well for Eastwood and was going to the Comm games to keep him busy. Effectively he is squeezed out by Giteau and O'Conner - a decision needs to be made here so Turner can play

O'Connor was woeful. Falls over his own feet, always chasing down his opponent because he finds himself out of position. He is a midget. He has got nothing on Turner, Mitchell, Hynes or Ioane as wingers.

I would have just clicked agree, Gnostic, but I have to state that I think what you've said there is 100% correct. Yes we need to close out the big games, and that will come (one day) but in the mean time, when you're playing the best in the world you need a little bit of luck, the rub of the green, some help, whatever. Mark Lawrence was a disgrace, making bad calls and inconsistent calls almost all night. WTF was with the >9000 minute penalty advantage he played to the blackness down on our line? That and the McCheat try that's already been raised and I'm sure many others.

Yes, I may be angry now, as the above post might suggest but I think this will stand up in the light of day.

McCaw is a cheat. boo fucking hoo. we've know this for five years. cheats can still lose games.

I really wish we could just have consistent ref performances.

Wallabies backline was extremely poor tonight. We didn't have an width and didn't run any plays. Their off the ball work has lazy and made no attempt to run attacking lines.

Genia was really poor. not getting the ball quick enough, passing sloppy, runs with the ball to much. To much ego. Same with Fat Cat. He hasn't been good all year. Cooper really is all hype atm.

Agreed about Giteau. I'm a JOC (James O'Connor) tragic at the moment, I'm overlooking some of his terrible errors because I see so much potential in him, but I wonder whether having Barnes accompanying Cooper is the safer option. I think Deans is convinced that JOC (James O'Connor) is a winger (I'm not) and won't budge from that (especially if it involves dropping the seemingly undroppable Giteau).
Turner was FANTASTIC and needs to be in the team.
