Yeah, I think Horwill (having been the player penalised) knew exactly where the spot was.

So he was still going right and as a consequence wasn't prepared for Smith to dart under his left arm.

I know plenty of focus on White's kick with 90 seconds to go & deservedly so.

But only caught one replay of this incident at the match so can anyone clarify if there was a massive knock on from the AB's in the restart contest that led directly to them levelling at 7 all?

And if so, what was Joubert fucking looking at?

I (and a bunch of others including the NZ commentators) thought that this was also possible, so I went back and looked at it again. Even reviewing it frame by frame, it's hard to say whether it came off Retallick or the Wallaby hand.

Incidentally - go to 13:22

Uncanny...

As Joubert was moving towards the mark, no doubt the Wallabies thought he was going to go to the correct spot and weren't aware when he let Smith take a mark some 10m off the real one. In fact, you can see Horwill moving to his right.

If any Wallaby really thought Joubert was going to run backwards another 10m then they are pretty stupid

Yeah that replay is inconclusive, particularly for the poor bloody ref!

Its done with. Let it go.

Why didn't the broadcaster show another angle of the controversial play?
It was a pivotal moment in the game, and fans deserve better.
We're spending time talking about box kicks and not this?

Thought 20 mins of Skelton in the back end of the match would have given us some much needed go forward, and at least a platform to get a kick away safely.
One of Skelton's best skills is his ability to take on contact and lay a long deep ball for the half back out of harms way.
The lack of composure was evident in many ways...who was playing half at times, run options, ball carriers too upright and flat footed, going the wrong side.

Most losses are worse than draws. I think it has something to do with the final score.
So it was jouberts faut for marking the wrong spot?
Smith took it from exactly where every ref usually wants it taken from. Where the ref actually marks it. Great vision by Smith and good patience. He could see the try was on immediately but he didn't rush it like you usually see players do and they don't take the tap from exactly where the ref is marling it and it gets called back.

Good to see that the Wallabies knowing where the mark was we're back on their line ready to defend. I hope you can pick up the sarcasm, I'm not very good at it. ;-)

Is Julian Savea a flat track bully? Never seems to do anything against Australia or South Africa. Thought he was very anonymous last night. Try-scoring record proves this too.

No. It's the Wallaby's 'fault' for not being alert and ready.

Smith was very sharp and ran straight to where Joubert was signaling the mark was, took the tap where he's supposed to and then made a great step to score.

Was always going to be hard to stop Smith because he recognised the opportunity and sized up the whole situation so quickly but that's not Joubert's problem. If anything, it was Horwill's fault for giving away a soft penalty in the first place.

He scored a try from being open and no one in front.

Stats:

vs Argentina. 8 tries in 6 games.
vs Australia. 2 tries in 6 games.
vs England. 8 tries in 4 games.
vs Ireland. 4 tries in 3 games.
vs South Africa. 0 tries in 5 games.

That's 2 tries in 11 games vs AU or SA. 20 tries in 13 games vs ARG, ENG and IRE. I'm thinking flat track bully.

A ref could be payed off and we would all still sit here and say the wallabies should of taken the ref out of the game ect. Its OK to point faults out sometimes. I personally thought joubert had a pretty bloody good game.

But in the shot above, Joubert has his arms by his sides, and is walking backwards, and Smith is taking the tap. I thought they stuck their arm up in the air to signal the mark for a penalty? ;)

Yeah, nah. If you think the try was the only thing he did vs Aus in that Eden Park test, you're struggling.

He put in the grubber that lead to Kieran Read's try. Chased and put Phipps into touch for the lineout that McCaw scored his first off. I also remember him chasing a kick and spoiling ball vs 3 Wallabies in the leadup to McCaw's second.

And he may not have scored vs SA but if you watch the leadup to Fekitoa's try the other week, you might notice who got the AB's 50 odd metres downfield....

And if I was wanting to be really mean, I'd point out that Wallaby fans don't really have any right to be claiming England is a 'flat track' vs the AB's in recent years as compared to Aus.

I personally thought joubert had a pretty bloody good game.
I laughed loudly (nay, hysterically) during the game when the Blicks kicked out from their 22-ish and most players moved upfield in chase mode. Joubert called "stop 8" or game-management words to that effect 3 times. 3 times! One warning for being in front of the kicker I can understand.......but a further 2 and no penalty?
Disclaimer: I am still frazzled after that loss and my emotions may have exaggerated my memory of the incident.

What I've noticed it how quiet all blacks fans were 2 weeks ago. Not a word about the boks. As soon as they win again it's all about the mighty all blacks on Facebook etc.
