I like to watch

It's not irrelevant, but it is not the whole issue.
In hindsight, keep the ball, grind it up, if we give away a penalty 40-50m out are we worse off?
But yeah, what happened after the box kick wasn't great either.
Ummm,
Just saw the replay of the last 10.
We did not get the ball back, after he kicked it away.
So my theory is unsupported by the facts.

I noticed that too, but it still doesn't change the overall scope of the discussion. There were several appropriate options available. He took one and executed poorly.

If you just watched it, you'll also know that White won the turnover when a wayward pass went to ground. If he didn't manage that, they would have scored then and people would be crucifying Tomane for dropping the ball.

But neither event is worse than the other - or a lot of other issues.

I actually think looking over those last three phase again before White's box kick, the two forward runs previous were totally dominated by the ABs and the Wallabies seriously ran the risk of turning over the ball. There was no structure to run a little wider and so Hodgeson took the ball static and I think with the intention of setting up the ruck in the 22 for the kick to touch. No a bad idea, but they need another 30 metres of the kick. The box kick for touch was never a decent option but with Foley the only kicker in position and his touch finders not that good (and given that only Lilo is the other decent kicker) White had no other option.

something

White probably played his last game in gold for a while... even if you exclude that fucked box kick he had a shithouse game. he passes to the man, not to where the man is going to be. like WHAT??? HE PLAYS SCRUM HALF FOR AUSTRALIA and he cant pass like 2m in front of the player so that he runs onto it????
The worst one was when he passed it to horwill who actually had to stop running, shimmy back a bit to catch it, then re-start running again.

Watching the replay. For Dane Coles try @ (34:43) where was Gold#15 Folau in the defence line?

Is #15 no longer seen as the "last line of defence" in "the modern game"?

Izzy seems to have been about 30 metres away from the ball when the line break was made.

Scrum. I have also noticed that while our scrum worked rather well at times, there is still too much meercating from the 6/7/8, not adding weight to the push. Now that the power hit has been almost removed from the scrum contest, a coordinated and sustained 8 man push can win critical scrum turnovers. It's not going to happen with 5 men pushing and 3 spectators watching the opposition.

also... i have an inkling that Cooper may have known about the resignation. Didn't look like he wanted to play, seemed disinterested and disheartened even when we were up.

I feel too embarrassed to claim victory when the Wobs outplayed us so comprehensively for most of the match. I would normally be shrieking with delight at a last gasp win like that but finished feeling like we had stolen what we didn't deserve.

And what a shame McKenzie couldn't have gone out with the victory he deserved.

Here's hoping the loss of the coach doesn't impact too much and the Wobs keep up the good work and take the Poms to the cleaners!

And I think that's the point they need to give him games.

He was bumping off guys left and right last night.

I truly think Link wanted 3 experienced locks, Just Simmions and Horwill weren't enough.

And Sam's 7 tests his had 3 - 4 good'uns

And like a good boy changed his shirt without issue
Unfortunately he wasn't tackling Coles or using his shoulder when trying to shunt Jane into touch.

I know plenty of focus on White's kick with 90 seconds to go & deservedly so.

But only caught one replay of this incident at the match so can anyone clarify if there was a massive knock on from the AB's in the restart contest that led directly to them levelling at 7 all?

And if so, what was Joubert fucking looking at?

I haven't rewatched the game yet, but I believe you are correct. It's fair to say he missed a few calls on both sides, though. That one looked particularly bad at the time, though.

Again, I haven't rewatched yet.

Im.still not happy about smiths try. He took the tap at least 5m away from the mark.

Not to mention using Joubert as a shield

Smith took it from exactly where every ref usually wants it taken from. Where the ref actually marks it. Great vision by Smith and good patience. He could see the try was on immediately but he didn't rush it like you usually see players do and they don't take the tap from exactly where the ref is marling it and it gets called back.

That's very gracious of you. I've gotta tell you that from an Aussie point of view it still really, really stings from last night's events -- especially Link pulling the pin. I personally will take a while to get over that I think. But hey, well done to your blokes for staying close enough to snatch it in the end.
