I don't know why there is such heated debate about who should be 10/12. Guys like Gits, QC (Quade Cooper) and Barnes each bring different strengths and styles. Honestly, the big point should really be the use of the bench and the ability to go to plan B if plan A is not working. That has been one of our main problems: sticking to something that isn't working.

If QC (Quade Cooper) gets replaced by Barnes at the 50 minute mark, that should not be a reflection on QC (Quade Cooper) or visa-versa. It should instead be a reflection that our game plan needs to change to win the test. We have the ability and the talent, but we do need to be more pro-active in changing our style if the game demands it.

Just my 2 cents......

Keeping with the "reality check" requirement of some of the posters on the forum you spoke about, throw yourself in that category. Remember any of those games we needed to close out? I'll throw you a hint. vs Ireland on the EOYT; what channel/defenders opened up to let O'Driscoll in for the draw-clenching try?

Hmmm...Cooper and Ioane, yes?

OK so we are back in 2009 again are we. I could ask questions of players from 2009 as well. But that was then we are now in July 2010!
A super season has finished and the June tests are over!

C'mon guys! Provincialism is so 3 months ago. Let's move on.

As far as Cooper is concerned, I don't see a lot of options right now. It looks like Deans believes that Giteau is the backup 10, then Barnes, with people like Beale and JOC (James O'Connor) able to fill in during an emergency. Which is probably fair enough.

Another coincidence between the 2 is awful hair choices, since QC (Quade Cooper) got a haircut he has improved out of sight, maybe if KB (Kurtley Beale) removes the 70's porn hair from his top lip he might find some form![/QUOTE]

That is precisely my point. The propensity for on field brain flatulence is indicated by the absurdity of the facility/head hair. We will know Beale is ready when that thing goes.

Haha golden stuff, but seriously that porno stache is really terrible.

There's been heaps of comment on this thread about 10/12 options, especially the risks of brain explosions, but yet virtually no comment on a potential disaster. Hynes is out for the 3N and so Mitchell, Shepherd and Cummins have been called into the squad. Turner has been relegated to sevens.

You are reading it right - Cummins is a wallaby possible for next week. A winger who, week after week, was a disaster for the Force might end up playing against the Boks. There would have to be ten wingers in Oz with more talent and better defense than Cummins. I can only assume that the selectors did not watch any Force game this year.

Come to think of it, given the way Hodgson has been treated, they probably didn't.

I'm with FP. None of the last three pages of discussion will have any relevance to the Brisbane test unless the forwards improve 200%.

Mitchell too started gunning it in the s14 after he got the chop. It can't be a coincidence... Maybe once they stop spending hours in-front of the mirror they use their extra time training...

Where is NTA???? He would have gone thermonuclear by now with multiple posts discussing wingers and hairstyles (although I grant you that Cummins' lack-of-hairstyle deserves a thread of its own).
'Tis in the pigs that it shall be determined...

I fear Cummins has been selected ahead of others becuase of the current obsession with a 'big backline', yeah he does provide bulk but did he really have a better season then someone like Pat Mcabe.

He went well in 2009 but was pretty poor in 2010, he was seleted in the Barbarians squad and had a rather indifferent performance against the English.

Imagine how easily we will win games if the team gets together and shaves their heads for charity and takes a mean machine look.

Obsession with a big back-line? He is the only big back in the squad.

Cummins is electric when he hasn't been injured all season, I'm sure the gamble will pay off. However, I agree McCabe should be getting a crack though. He is the bread and butter fullback we desperately need.

Absolutely right! Do you recall him spilling those easy out wide passes in BaaBaas 1 that were near-certain tries? This news is a shocker.

I have promised daz to lay off Deans for Lent but, seriously, Cummins, that is just such poor selection, or short list whatever, judgement it beggars belief. Turner would be an infinitely better and more credible choice, and heaps more seasoned in big game land.

No need to hold it in RH, we just have slightly differing opinions on the road best suited to get to glory. The outcomes (and what should happen to RD if he fails to execute) we agree on.

I am hugely disappointed and bewildered about the possible inclusion of Cummins. I think he had an ordinary S14 season, but more importantly, when the chance came for him to show us something in June, he could not have been poorer. In fact, "poorer" is an understatement; he was fucking awful.

To even have him in contention is a disgrace....

Hear, Hear!! and while we're at it -- where the fuck is Lachie Turner??

Lachie had a terrific season for the Tahs this year, over shadowed perhaps by Drew-boy (remember 4 of his tries came in one game), but light years better than any other aussie winger -- ok, ok, I like Rocket Rod too, but can he tackle?

More to the point, who did he piss off to be banished to the mickey mousies??

Was he that bad in the Barbarian games? Surely, he can't have been worse than Cummins???!!??

I read something about the ARC wanting some wallaby talent into the 7's team so that they can put in a good showing for the Comm games. I thought it was just a throw away line, but could someone in the ARU done the sums:

SHIT FORWARD PACK = SHIT BALL FOR THE HALVES --> NO NEED FOR GOOD FINISHERS --> BETTER "VALUE" IN TRYING TO WIN GOLD IN DELHI???
