DHP probably did enough yesterday to nail down the 14 jersey. I'd still prefer to see Banks though with Maddocks on the bench.

DHP yes done enough with credits in the bank for past wallabies performances to get the starting spot. I would prefer maddocks on what I saw for bench spot on last nights Rebels performance against the blues and fact been more consistent than banks all season (not withstanding last few games banks been outstanding).

I just can't understand why Naiyaravoro not selected despite going overseas given he is the most exciting and dangerous winger in OZ rugby at present. He is the sort of player we want to watch play test rugby....and more importantly impact player who could help us win games against the top teams.

I'd say we'll go for one pair of jet shoes and a second fullback. 11. Koroibete 14. DHP. 15. Folau

So it seems Lukhan Tui will be having a run this weekend. For Souths Reserve grade v Logan. Perfect preparation for a test match.

Yep Reg I was down at the Club yesterday and was surprised when I realized Lukhan was playing for Souths. The same remark was made re build up to test match!
As an aside I was real pleased that the player who is meant to have a bad attitude according to some (QC (Quade Cooper)) was down there with his missus watching the Colts and reserves, not the first time I have seen him watching lower grades playing at Logan, so in my opinion he's got some things right! Also add Sef Faagase was down there too. Mind you he lives pretty close but still good to see him watching the young Logan colts he knows as well.

Maddocks isn’t that bad. Most of our wingers miss tackles, the only really good defender on the wing is young Petaia.

He has that real grass-roots club rugby about him. You know, the bloke that is there for the first game of the day and watches through to the last, week in week out. The bloke that makes sure the drink fridge in the clubhouse is always stocked and always rocks up for working bees. The bloke has his heart and soul in the club and is the heart and sole of the club. I know he is high profile and polarising but when Thorn made the 'care' comment when he was announced as Reds coach and then the exclusion of Quade thing happened, it was puzzling because he certainly does 'care'.

Banks most impressive things been his cover tackles..lol i cant belive that the reds let him go..size speed can kick and tackle..and when i say speed i mean real speed..

If the question relates to Super Rugby _as presently being played and designed as a comp_ then the answer is: quite possibly in a better place.

The value - commercial today and strategic tomorrow - of the Wallabies will, in the medium term, be most optimised by a process designed for Tier 2 of the pro code here that:

- provides fans with a predictable displays of good rugby skills

- provides games/teams that build tribal affinities

- yields more Aust team victories than losses, overall

- makes it at least possible that Australian teams can attain multiple finals position and win the whole comp with some regularity over say 3 year cycles

- provides games with a reasonably high level of Australian content vs teams that are least known about and geographically not very distant

(NB: the above also requires a far, far better approach to rugby coaching skills growth, coach recruitment and development as should be led by RA than exists today)

As it is today, Super Rugby provides none of the above and Wallaby crowds (and notably too, Wallaby skills levels) are markedly declining, although not at the rate of Super crowds.

It seems academic now pending Hanigan's fitness, but I'm sure he isn't the answer either for a broader problem. But as a squad inclusion for the Irish series, possibly.

After a few rather disappointing outings lately, McCaffery had a very strong game v the Sunwolves. If another backrower is needed, say if Hanigan doesn't prove his fitness, then McCaffery would probably be under consideration. He plays with a certain amount of flair and creativity for a backrower.

Just my arguments? It was you who asked me the question (in defence of a highly debatable proposition): where would the Wallabies be without Super Rugby? I answered: likely in a better place, subject to the right radical redesign as I certainly don't think 'Super Rugby 2018 version underwrites an optimal Wallaby team' in any sense whatsoever.

I agree though - this issue has moved on, and into other places.

Latu, Robertson, Kepu, Simmons, Samu, Phipps, Hodge, Rona

Tupou's form is hard to deny. He now starts. Latu's experience gets him a gig even though he is (or will probably be) a late edition to the squad. Hard to go into the game with two debutantes at hooker.

Really tempted to select Banks on one of the wings and Rona instead of Kuridrani but I think the short preparation means to go for experience.

Maybe Kerevi makes the side but I think Kuridrani's defence gets the nod.

Definitely a risk not having Tui on the bench for the lineout but he's also very short on rugby lately. I tend to think Samu will get the bench gig.

In terms of the front row you could select AAA as the reserve LHP but he hasn't played any rugby there in a long time. Not sure if it is a sound option. I think that front row is fine and will do the job. Hard to deny Tupou a start based on how well he is playing.
