No votes for Palu?

Clearly you must think that it's the openside flanker's job to get the bal out of rucks, and that the ideal place for a fly-half to receive the ball is about half a metre above his head.

As I mentioned elsewhere, we on G&GR have given far too many accolades to the princesses in all our points awards this year. But, for last night's match, I'm going with the flow.

Pococok was the only forward doing the hard graft. Burgess was our best defender, made more tackles than Elsom & Brown combined, played at intensity, & organised our rabble forward flock for what little go forward we did get.

With you there , naza. I thought Pocock at least did the tough stuff well, as usual. I was less bothered by Sharpe seagulling since he did it pretty well, got forward well and reliably. Elsom seagulling is a different question - runs too upright like a headless chook and gets nowhere most of the time. God how we miss Palu and TPN. I cannot share your Burgo-love, although as I stated elsewhere, he defends very well, no mistake. His service was, at times, appalling.

Special mentions to Sharpe, Ioane, Beale and Burgess. After a nervous start I thought Burgess played very well considering his forwards seemed to have a severe case of ruck allergy for most of the night.

So when will he get his passing right & show more composure at the base of the ruck, sure he's a great backrower but we actually need a halfback getting his pass out in front of the ball runner.

He did so. His passing was fine. His quick clearance at the ruck compensated for poor ruck work by our flock. His decision making (direction to pass, picking out runners, box kick, etc) was excellent. He had a couple of errors early on, as did the whole team but went well as a whole.

I don't get the broken record Burgess bashers. I don't see how you'd watch the Fiji game and have Burgess' performance in the top 15 things to complain about.

3. Sharpe was involved in everything and just didn't stop. He is reminding me of Van and is getting better with age.
2. Ioane his running was at its best.
1. Horne. I haven't been a fan of his until now. A very solid debut with good hard running that straightened the line. Effectively played like A. Finger does in the Reds and hit the good distribution that Quade provided him with.
