How about they bring in a back like Turner, Morahan, Gits or Tapuai to replace Palu then? They only need them for the Russia game, and there's still time. If Pocock goes down early next week, send one of the injured backs home for an openside then.

I reckon that's not a bad option.

They could also be waiting for tomorrow to announce the replacement to see if Fainga'a is available for the match on Saturday.

Palu really is on the long slow fade, with his size he should be smashing people but he now probably plays with self preservation in mind. Probably a difficult year for the Tahs next year then curtains

SMH also reckons it will be Dave Dennis when Palu finally heads home.

I hope so. He was really coming along this year for the tahs. IMO he is a better version of McCalman.

If Dennis is better than McCalman, then break McCalman's leg and send Dennis over.

Whatever, just send Beau there now. Surely Deans can tell him what he wants and Beau will give it to him.

Wouldn't that be just do what you did for the Reds all season?

Well if we send over Beau for Palu, Taps for McCabe, Morahan for Horne and swap Alexander for Daley and this would probably be my RWC final team
1. Slipper
2. A Fainga'a
3. Daley
4. Horwill
5. Simmons
6. Higgenbotham
7. Pocock
8. Samo
9. Genia
10. Cooper
11. Ioane
12. Barnes
13. Tapuai
14. Mitchell
15. Morahan

Good balance, bench: Moore (won't be needed), Kepu (won't be needed), Sharpe, Robinson (Sub for Pocock), Elsom (Won't be needed), Burgess (won't be needed), A Fainga'a (replace Barnes)

Looks strong :fishing

McCalman has copped a tough break on this site. He is a bloke playing out of position and is probably suffering a bit of second year syndrome. Last year he was a breath of fresh air and the answer to our Richard Brown problem remember? The chances are in 12 months time the same issues will be talked about in regards to Dave Dennis.

I would prefer Hodgson to replace Palu and help our openside issue. No disrespect to Beau but Hodgson is likely to cope better on the big stage given that he has been in the Wallaby loop now for three years which makes him more of a ready-made replacement.

Palu - Robinson/Hodgson. We have enough 6/8 cover in Higgers, Elsom, Samo, McCalman.
Mitchell - Turner/Morahan. Utility Morahan or specialist Turner, neither will get much time in the QF me thinks.

Well, the time is now.

Palu --> Hodgson
Slipper --> ?
Mitchell --> Turner?

Agree with the two you have. We have to bring in people with experience if there going to be thrust into a quarter or worse. In regards to the new front rower, well it's either Pek or Baxter if you go back to the training squad isn't it?

Bring in Baxter, Robinson and Turner. We need forwards with grunt and that never-back-down attitude, which those two have in barrels. Turner's got pace, utility value, a great boot and vision. Our most under-appreciated back IMO. Chuck them all on the bench, with McCalman dropping off the bench. Even if Robbie doesn't want to use them, at least bring them over so they get some exposure to training/moves/calls rather than finding ourselves flying one of them over 18 hours before a Semi-Final against the All Blacks.

I was hearing that Slipper will be fine. If so that is great news. Greg Holmes would be the prop I would like to see go over if one was needed. Nothing personal against Baxter but we can not afford the stigma he carries being the week link. I would not be against calling Mortlock over to replace Drew.
