On the basis of robbies comments I really just think he wants to see quade play the lions, front up and make his tackles. If he does that he's in the next 6 almost certainly

Well, think about what RD said: There WILL be an opportunity for QC (Quade Cooper) to play against the Lions.

The Reds play the Lions as well, so RD was not lying.

I'm not sure how selecting Quade makes it harder to run big centres through our back line. Nor is it clear to me why the Pulveriser is responsible for Robbie's selections.

But I do think there is a chance that Quade makes the final squad.

Because on this season he has shown he defends better than James O'Connor.

If he makes the final squad I doubt it will be the starting 10.

Scott, surely they'll need a back-up for Palu. Or do you anticipate Higgers to 8 and Hooper to 6?

I think they'll finish game with two opensides on the field - Gill to 6 and Hooper on at 7 with Higgers to 8.

Two possible ways to have more cover for Palu - 6-2 bench which is risky - MMM (or possibly Dennis) on the bench in place of Simmons as lock and backrow cover (think MMM could fill that role but not Dennis).

I reckon the first test team Deans selects will be:

  1. Robinson (Alexander)
  2. Moore (Fainga'a)
  3. Slipper (Kepu)
  4. Horwill but will wear #5 and captain
  5. Timani (Simmons)
  6. Higginbotham
  7. Gill (Hooper)
  8. Palu
  9. Genia (Burgess)
  10. JOC (James O'Connor) (Barnes)
  11. Ioane
  12. Horne (Lealiifano)
  13. AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)
  14. Cummins
  15. Folau

yes i think this is pretty much the team, Gill/Hooper and Lealiifano/Horne either way, Horne certainly if he continues to play well the next two weeks. Folau is a shoe in at FB.

personally in this 25 i would pick Banes over JOC (James O'Connor) at 10 any day

There is plenty of attack in the squad selected. Just among the backs, JOC (James O'Connor), Lilo, Folau, Ioane, Genia and Tomane are all dangerous attacking players. Horne and AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) are not playmakers, but they are both dangerous runners as we've seen in recent weeks. Even Barnes can play attacking rugby under the right circumstances.

My guess is that most G&GRers would have picked Cooper, but it's not like the squad automatically sucks because he's not picked. As has been debated a million times over, Cooper brings a lot to the table, but he also takes some things off it. It shouldn't be a surprise that he's been left out.

I reckon this is a pretty damn good squad. Very few "WTFs?!?" -- maybe only Timani and Dennis fit that category.

Thats a Good one
We will see in a month when Barnes keeps kicking the ball away,

Do you mean the Barnes who delivered a perfect pass for Hooper to score and got over the line himself last night? The one who also knocked down 40-50m kicks? Seriously, perception.

5 times, 4 disallowed and 2 Bounce of the ball type thingys with Digby and Morahan chasing kicks. and then there's the 7 or so times they crossed the line against the brumbies ( a great defensive effort I remember people saying) If only they gave you points for line crosses !!
If only.
