Wallabies 2025 Spring Tour

It's been a bit lost in the flyhalf chat, but Brandon Paenga-Amosa has been left out of both the wallabies and Australia A squads, but not listed as unavailable due to injury. A bit of a surprise drop off there as easily our most experienced hooker
Good pick up, surprised not in any but I think with Faessler returning it was him or Nasser that was getting dropped and I think they view Nasser as a better scrummager

Nasser is a good scrummager, but I'd be surprised if they saw him as better than BPA, who is maybe the best scrummaging hooker we've ever had (and has a very solid partnership with Tupou.

I'm not so surprised they've preferred Nasser over him given recent teams named, but the surprising part for me is that he is out of both squads all together. Possibly there's some minor injury or personal reason keeping him out of the Australia A squad but not the Wallabies one, so it just hasn't mentioned.

Only two tens is silly - take Donaldson - Stewart or Paisami aren’t test viable backups
JOC (James O'Connor) is over there. They will call on him if there is an injury no doubt. How they are backing Edmed over Donaldson is what I don't understand. Blooding Lynagh with the pressure of the Lions series has set him back and the decision has been made now to bring in a new answer. Faster than a speeding mullet... it's the one game NRL man and former Wallaby... Carter Gordon! Wishing the Wallabies luck for the tour. Hopefully they play well .

Without Wright, Ikitau around the Wallabies are 1,2 injuries in the backs to JAS, Daugunu or Jorgo away from some of the most pedestrian attacks going. I really hope Pietsch hits the ground running.

The pack has life about it and plenty of competition in 4-8

RA have just put out a decent highlights package of Carter.

Watching it I have a few thoughts:
- Fuck being a Rebels fan sucked. There were some stupid scorelines in their existence.
- He scored a nice long range try against the Bokke on debut. Trying to work out why we don't talk about it more then saw we lost by like 50-7.
- He has a real nose for snatching intercepts, impressive talent reading the game because I don't think his acceleration is what gets him there. Though he does have top end spend to finish off the long run.
- I really rate him but it's still so tough on Donaldson to leave him at home and take a bloke who's been in the (league) bleachers for a year.

Going back to an earlier conversation, I managed to overlook this nugget...

Yes, Schmidt specifically called it out too:
“We’ve taken a long-term view with Tom Lynagh, who is still just 22 years old. He has had a few injury frustrations since the third test versus the Lions in early August and will follow an individualised program, guided by both Wallabies and Queensland staff, which will allow him to recover to full fitness.

Why was he in the Argentina and All Black game squads if injured?

Probably because he was fit enough to play against Argentina, picking up another one of those "injury frustrations," and then didn't make it back in time for the second Bledisloe test, and now they've assessed he needs further time off...

Donaldson needs to use the disappointment to enjoy a break and start the Super rugby season like this year... and keep it going all season. Carter and him will be the 10's for the RWC barring injury is my tip. Eddie just callled it 4 years too early!

Put it where?

Maybe. Having dodgy hammies so young and prone to head knocks though is not good for his longevity. Still don't think he'll last the distance. Rushed into Test footy way too early.

Doran said he was fit for the NZ games

Doran was wrong!?

He debuted at 22 years old. Dan Carter debuted at 22, Johnny Wilkinson at 18, Quade at 20, Larkham 22, Giteau 20, Foley 23, Berrick Barnes 21, Donaldson 23, Edmed 24...

Seems pretty par for the course
