Wallabies 2024

We could do that or start him at 12 with a view to ending the game with last weeks pair in the centres. We need backup at 12 and 13.
He is only 31 and being Fijian is in his physical prime. At his best he is a no brainer selection at 12. Imagine Sua'ali'i running off him.
It would be great to have a couple of top notch options moving into 2025 at both 12 and 13.
If Kerevi is fit then I think Schmidt will find a way to include him. Even if it means pushing Sua’ali’i back to wing or 15 (and Wright to 14). The prospect of having a fit and firing Kerevi, Ikitau, Sua’ali’i & Wright combining is tantalising. No question.

But I just don’t think this is the week. Ikitau, Sua’ali’i and Wright were all contenders for MOM last week. They should be rewarded for that and, personally, I believe rewarded in the same spots and given a chance to build combo.

But if Schmidt decided otherwise then I’m onboard.

In Joe we trust.

No. Kerevi is really an unknown atm. At his best (years ago) he was still lacking in quite a few areas of his play, passing, setting up his outside backs, defence. The last time he played for the Wallabies he wasn't even good at crash ball. Too slow and unfit and easily contained. There is no evidence available to us to suggest he has improved in any of these areas in the meantime. Being kind, he is at best the third option in the centres now. In the circumstances, he does not warrant a starting spot in a team that is desperate for wins, and hopefully on the up and up. The bench is as good as it gets for Kerevi right now.

Agreed. I’d like to see Potter on the bench ahead of him actually. Covers wing and centre. Strong fast and match fit from recent Force games.

I thought Kerevi improved at other aspects of the game like kicking and passing. I dont think that's a big issue anymore. Last year though he looked slow as molasses coming off of injury. It muted his strength as a ball carrier and it did no favors on defense.

I'm sure Schmidt can tell if this is the case in training. I doubt he needs a ton of game time to "get up to speed." He's a smart player with tons of experience.

You could always use him like the ABs did with SBW and give him 15-30 mins off the bench. Worse problems than having three world class centers.

With the non blocking on box kicks, we could switch Sualli to wing or fullback to counter that and therefore give Kerevi a run at 12 with Len at 13. Not saying I’m a fan, I would much prefer a pretty solid centre combo to gel more, this also takes a fair bit of guesswork out of our 10 options. I see it as as a way to see where we sit with Kerevi. If it goes pear shaped, we can revert to last week’s backline without Pietsch (unfortunately)

Interesting to see how better we play with cohesive structures

The best of the Wobs has always been based a highly organised structure; Schmidt replicates this idea as he did with Ireland

Will Wilson be back for game 3? 12 day stand down takes him reasonably close, will they just save him for Ireland? Assuming Kerevi will get a suspension but imo he shouldnt and he should start again.

I said head knock in the match thread, but I didn't hear anything specific it's just what it looked like to me
I thought I remembered one of the commentators saying he got up from a breakdown looking shaky. But could be wrong.
