Wallabies 2024

I’m happy enough that Perth is getting the bled given they aren’t getting a Lions test.

Townsville didn’t show up for the Reds when they last went up and Brisbane has not had one Wallabies match in the last 2 years.

Most SEQ rugby fans won’t be able to get Lions tickets or won’t be able to afford the price and so those fans will not have a chance to watch their national team for at least four years.
Agreed, the game against South Africa in Brisbane this year is one we would probably all like to forget.

John Eales medalist shortlists announced.

2024 winner is going to be Bobby Valetini, Fraser McReight or Harry Wilson.

I think I'm right in saying only Wales, Georgia and TRC tests included

Yeah, world cup was last year's and eoyt will be next year's.

Probably Valetini given the other two both missed games, but interesting to see no one outside of the back row crack the short list.

Perth is hosting the Bledisloe Cup, which is positive since it missed out on a Lions test. Townsville had low support for the Reds, and Brisbane hasn't had a Wallabies match in two years. Many SEQ fans may miss out on Lions tickets due to cost, meaning no chance to see the national team live for four years.
What do you think about hosting the 2027 world cup in Roma?

The Wallabies have unveiled a new jersey for next year’s British and Irish Lions series featuring Indigenous artwork designed by winger Dylan Pietsch and a traditional green collar likely to be embraced by fans.

Tom Robertson out with a calf injury, Zane Nonggorr to the top squad.

No word on a call up to the Australia XV yet.

Nicely done, my only quibble is the stripe across the back that seems a bit awkwardly placed. It's not visible here but shows up in other photos online.

Personally, I have no issue...

The space above will be filled in with the player's number, and likely Santos sponsorship up top..

Looks great with collar..

RwC jersey had the players short sleeve no collar version plus a long sleeved, collared supporters jersey…. Plus no Cadbury on it… best jersey for a supporter going forward… sponsorship a necessary evil but looks crap.

Hopefully we get a cotton supporters version. The Reds Canterbury supporter jerseys have been a big hit, just need a short sleeve version.

Glad to see Dylan brought back the collar, the subtle art is nice to see. If this is the way the jersey is heading, I'm excited to see what the 27 RWC version will look like.

Just having a go at the Aus XV side to take on Bristol at the end of next week.

Assuming none of the Wallabies squad moves down for the match and that there'll be no more pre-game injuries after Tom Robertson, I would like to see it go like this:

Hoopert, Lonergan, van Nek
Canham, Swain
Hooper, Reimer
Brial

Lonergan
Stewart
Toole, Sapsford, Flook, Lancaster
Campbell

Horton, Lambert, de Lutiis, Smith, Scott, Fines Leleiwasa, HMP, Walton

We might conceivably see a front rower or two come back from the main squad and a back rower. Otherwise, I'd be pretty happy with this as a side for the Bears.

How much 12 has Sapsford played for the brumbies BR? You’re really pushing this concept of him playing inside centre, and it seems to be based off little more than he’s over 100kg.

I think he'd be Mike Harris with much less effective ability to kick and no idea if he can place kick.

He's a useful utility which is becoming a position of it's own if you can lengthen the bench for your side.

really interesting discussion from Larkham about Tom Wright's elevation this season. Explains why he's eliminating the rocks and leaving the diamonds in his performances.
“That was the big issue that I thought would improve his game. If we could get him to train at a higher intensity, at a higher pace, then he’s practising his skills at that higher pace more regularly. And it’s transferring to the game.

“What we’d see at training was a lot of cruising through, a guy that knew exactly what he needed to do, but just cruising through, not necessarily testing it, saving himself for the weekend. And he changed.

“I had one conversation with him and he took that on board and changed the way that he trained, changed the way that he approached training, and the rest is him really. I didn’t have to drive him any more than that.”

Seems a pretty common trend that only hits a lot of them as they get a bit older. Use to being able to cruise through that stuff at lower levels and School Boys. Jed Holloway said something similar in regards to doing extras and how his Rugby improved from there.

Almost every high performing team not just in sport practices skills whilst under fatigue or stress.

At times I wonder if this has slipped badly then resulting in the late game pants shitting when we fall apart after the accumulation of fatigue.
