There’s been a discussion on this concept over in the cricket thread recently.

Obviously RA has done the sums that have lead them to make the decisions they have in scheduling. I’d be extremely interested to know how they factor engaging their base into those sums.

In the same fashion, I would certainly hope Georgia isn’t at Homebush, possibly never a greater opportunity to get out to Brookvale.

I can’t imagine Suncorp would have turned down Wales (or NZ, but they will not get many Bled’s when competing against the two bigger markets for one test a year). I was at the last match Wales played there and it was a fantastic atmosphere.

The subsidies/rebates/whatever from government would all go into the mix of the forecasted margins when selecting each venue. My only point is that RA needs to reckon with the fact that Rugby supporters’ engagement is worth a lot more in the long term than that schedule would seem to indicate they believe it is. Kind of a hippy thought, I know.

I can’t imagine Suncorp would have turned down Wales (or NZ, but they will not get many Bled’s when competing against the two bigger markets for one test a year). I was at the last match Wales played there and it was a fantastic atmosphere.

100% Agree, but we all know that there are contracts in place yrs in advance. The Victorian govt. signed a 6 year deal back in 2019. Is the qld govt deal for just 1 RC test a yr?

Tough crowd. Getting a pretty good game. I’d take an SA test over a wales test…..or a Georgia test.
That said I think the bled should be at Allianz as home bush will probably draw 65k.
Then you throw Georgia to Brissy.
Guessing home bush and nsw paying up for the game.

Georgia is flying into Australia for one game after travelling from Japan (game on the 13/7), and then flying straight out again back to Europe for club games.

I suspect being based in Sydney was done for their logistics.

Playing the Kiwis in Sydney has become another home game for the All Blacks.

If we really want to win the Bledisloe, we should be playing at Suncorp.

How does the NRL bookings work? broncos v Penrtith at Suncorp that Friday night. Maybe NRL had the stadium booked for Fri and Sat night before they locked in Fri?

Maybe… but Brisbane has flights to Japan and Europe also, on the same carriers so don’t see why it would be.

Really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. That said, at least only one of these tests is at the 'Accor' stadium. Fuck that place. Its like Mordor but without any willing Hobbit to fucking destroy the fluffybunny.
