Surprises but not surprised
Unlike NZ who picked the oldest and experienced squad. Average age 28

25 guys 25 years or younger and 25 first RWC is interesting

Still don’t understand that guys not playing any minutes have kept their spot, while some haven’t and some playing and looking close to locks are gone

thoughts

1. would prefer sio at LH - schoupp has won, maybe the loss of tobertson
2. Back row no hooper is surprising, and no Samu
Holloway gone which i am but arnt surprised - with kemeny coming back a shock
3. Lonergan will feel unlucky, IFL is good but again come from no where while Lonergan has been a trainer
4. No Cooper is a wtf moment, he would have helped gorden, 1 specialist 10? And Ben Donaldson fff I would pick most super rugby 10s over him
5. Unlucky for ikatau - injury may have been too late for him. Petaia looks good at 13 though
6. Look knock Jorgensen but again come from no where, Suli is another wtf moment

I would have picked Sio, Samu and hooper, longeran, Cooper and Wright

there is a lot of age, caps, experience not there between Sio, Robertson, AAA, rodda, Holloway, hooper, Samu, Cooper, foley, JOC (James O'Connor), ikatau, Beale, Wright

Does anyone have the list of ARU top ups? I would love to see how many didn't make this squad, and how many domestic player in the squad don't have a top up
Top ups is one area of comcern, so too is the compulsory rests for players during the Super season. Upwards of eight Brumbies who were forced to rest have either been dropped or will miss the RWC through injury. A potential two more wins during the season would have placed them in a good spot to host a semi final. Complete waste of time and effort.

If there were no overseas eligibility restrictions or injuries hypothetically (ie our strongest squad) what would that look like?

It's like the cheika days all over again...
Jorgensen is a bit of a wild selection but if you’re going to punt on an 18yo he’s the one, regardless of what franchise he plays for. Trade him off for Hooper or Holloway who everyone pretty much expected to be selected. Outside that all those Tahs were expected to make it except Donaldson, but every franchise has a player that wasn’t the expected to be there a few weeks ago:
Tahs - Donaldson
Reds - Nonggorr
Brumbies - Schoupp
Rebels - Kemeny
Force - IFL

Its the non selections that are more surprising

Hypothetically … if I’m rugby Australia and I want to protect wallabies going offshore for big money you maintain the 3 maximum giteau law players for World Cup but you expand those giteau law players maximum allocation for the TRC just before the World Cup.

Use TRC as the preseason. Trial combination of players who are based overseas and see how they integrate with the wallabies super rugby players but come World Cup squad selection night. You pick 3 and no more.

I think this TRC we did have 4 names (Cooper, Korobiete, Arnold and Skelton) glad we only taking the 3.

think Fair.

I’m just convinced he’s said fuck it the CEO I coached won’t sack me. Planning for 25,27 in his head.
RWCs are his speciality. People should have some faith, he’s going 100% for this. I don’t agree with his selections but clearly this is what he thinks gives us the best chance of winning it.

I don’t like Eddie but fuck me some people really ought to be fair dinkum. Throwing a RWC? Nah.

He’s mentioned he needs youth because a lot of the veterans are cooked from injury so it’s not purely a youth only gamble, also a reality.
