Who? At the moment it's hard to argue he isn't the form Australian lock.

Are Rodda, Phillip, Swain etc. so entrenched that Holloway can't be picked ahead of one of them?

At this stage he has to be viewed as a specialist lock. It's where he's played all season and he's got better and better as the season has wore on. Some versatility may help his cause but I don't think it's what will get him selected in the first place.

Looks pretty good option for the bench either way, gives the team a bit more flexibility... it could allow the team to carry a specialist 7 on the bench like McReight/Gamble and still have 3 backs.

We will see. I agree he is a speciast lock at test level. He is going to have surpass Philip, Rodda and or/ Swain and then Arnold when he comes back into contention.
We have some outstanding locks at the moment, Holloway among them. At the Reds LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto), Smith and Blyth have all also looked good. Its hard to see Rennie changing direction too much ahead of next year IMHO.

The locks picked for the Wallabies training squad in March were Swain, Frost, Neville, Philip, Rodda and Holloway...

I'd assume he's very much in the mix.

Serious question for any stats people out there.
How many games of rugby do Aussies play per year from development thru to Wallaby level compared to other top nations?
I think you’ll find the answer is not enough.
Just watching fringe players and bench players for Super rugby.... getting 10 minutes at the back end of a game is hardly developing your rugby skills.
All players who need more game time should be free to play overseas in the off season to develop their skills and be match hardened.
Thoughts?

Now as a test lock, he just isn't big enough, because his good field work at test level is expected, but a good test lock is just bigger and more effective

I rate him as a good super rugby standard lock, but we have better, more effective options at test level.

His only spot in a test team IMHO is a 5/6 bench option, and then he is competing against the Leota, Hanigan options etc
