We hardly have such a wide range of rugby journos in the country that we should expect some of the ones that do it as a full time gig to never express their opinion.

It's pretty clear which ones are presenting news and which ones are opinion pieces.

I think you've misunderstood the gist of my post.

I would rather they have the balls to say they've sacked Taylor if that has been the case instead of the cryptic resignation.

I'm sure he did resign, but like in all of these cases it was asked of him...

When do they ever announce coaches leaving as sackings? Officially Deans, McKenzie & Cheika all resigned

I'm simply not a fan of them saying Taylor is 'standing down from the team due to personal reasons' and leaving us to mull over what might have happened, especially considering Hooper recently standing down for personal reasons.

If they're going to make players accountable for their performances, you'd think they should be upfront about the coaches as well. Even saying 'Taylor has resigned effective immediately and the team is going in another direction' gives a different vibe to the whole personal reasons stuff.

Anyway it's all a moot point now - coaches have been removed, players have been removed and now we wait and see what happens.

What's the incentive for Rennie to lie about Taylors departure?

It's entirely possible that Taylor jumped before he was pushed and that Rennie is saying a few words to save face, but he doesn't normally come off as a guy who would lie about the reasons?

If blokes can’t tackle or work in unison once they are in the Wallabies maybe some responsibility should fall back on the players. Why is it always the coaches fault…

I joked about it earlier this year that Tawera Kerr Barlow could turn out for his mother country, Australia if he wanted. (Side note, he’s a melburnian, classic Victoria is the powerhouse of not just Aus but apparently NZ too).

Well turns out he does, “I’m available to play for the wallabies, I was born there, I have a lot of ties to Australia and if the coaches called me I wouldn’t hesitate”.

good stuff, he’s 32 so I doubt it and personally don’t rate him a level above our current crop anyway.

Slim, I don't think it is asked of rather more than implied. Like this, Rennie - "We just lost our worst game against Argentina ever, there were many facets that went wrong but the D was a glaring one". Taylor -"I have wanted to spend more time with my family anyway so I think it's time I moved on!"

The responsibility is always held at the top it is a sensible solution but it won't always fix an army that has lost too often. As we well know.
There are fundamental issues with rugby from the bottom to the top and nobody is up to restructuring it.

He resigned in the same manor Australian Cricket deals with Captains at the end of their tenure with a 'voluntary' plank walk. A blunt sacking visually is poor for him moving forward and his coaching and public perception thinking it's imploding inside camp.

I agree with points about the players need to be accountable for this sort of thing but at the same time there are guys in this game who are 3rd/4th string and wouldn't be there otherwise at this stage. Can't say the result of a Loss surprised me but to concede 48 points is unacceptable.

Moving onto the RSA test. They can wipe all that away if they go out there and physically attack the Boks for 80 mins. I think everyone should expect some fire.

Looks like Jim McKay has been down at wallabies training holding the pool noodle this week - anyone know if they've been bringing some of the super staff in regularly or if it's just calling in extra bodies relatively local to the gold coast?

Guess it could be a sign he's on the Aus A staff later this year, given they want them doing everything in the same systems as the wallabies.
