Yep, they are pretty adept. But of course back in the good old, bad old, days, national allegiance was a pretty malleable quality. Des Connor flew to New Zealand and became an All Black almost overnight.
In the same era, club rugby in Sydney was based on residential qualification. If you wanted to play for Gordon, for example, you had to reside in their district. (Mind you, if you didn't have a "Gordon" address, they would organise one for you pretty quickly).
