So Australian rugby teams have managed to make the last 4 australian coaches look like shit.
All these coaches had good wins with other teams yet lost their coaching ability with the national team -??
No mention of player attitude/ indulgence or mindset of upper echelon officials.
Truly where is the problem-eh

Absolutely Refugee. The problems on Australian rugby go well beyond simply who the Wallabies coach is. But that doesn’t mean that they should be immune from criticism. Whilst the issues as varied and well entrenched, I firmly believe Cheika could have done a much better job than he has.

Cheika has acknowledged himself - professional coaches have to get results to retain their job.

What is interesting to me is, what will Scott Johnson do if we continue to lose, and when will he do it? His reputation depends to a very large extent on the success of the national team.

The failure is now endemic and at many levels.
Lack of systemic coaching structures from schools and junior club upwards, scrum academies etc which could have been created with the windfalls from RWC 2003 and Lions 2013 are a huge failing.
Lack of support outside traditional learning grounds (Independent School, for example) now leading to rugby disappearing from curricula.
Just at the Wallaby level, lack of a real process to select, oversee and critically review skills / specialty and other coaches, including the head coach.
The fact that a succession of Head Coaches have had mediocre results points strongly to these system failures. It doesn't offset the responsibility of the Head Coach to improve the outcomes at all, but it is curious.
Cheika has been the worst of them too.
It will get worse as resources become fewer, players leave more and more and the beatings get more regular.

Comes a point for a coach when his time is up - for World Cup winners as well as also-rans.

Last 20-odd years before the current appointment, there were 8 Wallaby coaches. Average tenure is like three-and-a-half years, including aforementioned RWC winners and assorted Bledisloe bringers.

Cheika will have had 70-odd tests and 5 years at the end of this season.

… well over the odds, and high time for a new outlook.

On the plus side, JON got a rather nice golden parachute at the end. So it's not all doom and gloom.

Interesting stuff about the average tenure. With the next coach/coaches do we go back to shorter stints or do we give them a chance to try and build their own team over time? Arguments either way I’d think.

Obviously the longer term tenure has not reaped any rewards. In fact Cheika has the worst record of all pro era coaches. Four year contracts with a performance clause allowing them to be cut short are probably the way to go. Only the decent ones will see out the full term of their contract.

Robbie Deans who was considered a terrible coach and got sacked for his record 58.66%

In hindsight though, Deans' record is actually not too bad. He was close enough to the glory days of the 90s and early 00s that expectation was still very high. He also benefited from the Northern Hemisphere teams being generally worse than they are now.

Unless something drastically changes then any Wallaby coach achieving those sort of numbers now will have to be considered reasonably successful.

He's got to go after the WC, but Cheika has also had the worst player pool to select from with so many guys in their prime playing overseas.

Whoever the next coach will probably have it worse.

Are the Western Force players eligible for selection to the Wallabies? If so, they do not have one squad member in the Wallabies squad, are no players good enough or are they just not eligible?

Western Force players are eligible for the national team. None selected

Rod Davies ? Jesus we are scarping the bottom of the barrel if he is in contention. Alcock is good but is in a position of extream depth, and isn't Stander capped for someone else ?

He would have done a better job than DHP on the weekend... Believe Stander is South African born, uncapped and has been in Aus for a few years now.

Deans also realised we were crap and reverted to a game playing quite narrow so I piggies could be there abouts thus limiting turnovers, under his stewardship our losses were closer

Maybe, but then you have Speight, Pulu, Korro, Naivalu and if I wanted someone old on the wing AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) as well. This is also leaving out that Hodge, Banks, DHP, Beale and JOC (James O'Connor) are all available as well, and are better then Davis.
