Man i feel for McCaffery, Valetini is defs our future but really feel his run should start next year

Dempsey and Latu lucky to be there

Hoping Samu was not included due to injury
Yep for me mccaffrey has every right to be bummed as one of the form backrowers going around - should have been ahead of Dempsey and Valetini

He’s had his moments at 15 since the Folau debacle began. He generally goes well against the Boks as well.
Looking forward to seeing Wright. He’s more or less guaranteed a spot in the 23 unless Dempsey is the backup 7.

I'm not sure he'll make the 23. I take it as being more of an emergency in case Hooper can't play.

Would've liked Billy Meakes ahead of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper), but I understand why a centurion like Swoop was chosen.

Simmons over Philip is disappointing. Wright and Dempsey will be fixed when Pocock and Samu are back. Don't see the point of AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper). But overall, better than expected.

It's amazing the rugby news clickbait. Almost every article is highlighted by Cooper being a shock omission. I think it would have been far more surprising if he was in the squad.

It would be interesting to be a fly on the wall when the selections were done and know how different if at all the squad would have been without Johnson and O'Connor.

Standard journalism these days. Gotta sell the "snubs" or "shocks" even when the squad has no surprises.

Seems like a reasonable squad............

McCaffrey and Phillip the two unlucky ones..........

Coleman, Cooper, Phipps and Hanigan all deservingly not there.........

And I assume Samu is not included because of injury.

I think the Wallabies need to hit the ground running, as best they can. Genia can get a message direct from Cheika or whoever - step up, or sit on the pine. If they are to have any decent chance in the RWC, they need some form, and see if the combinations they feel are their best are going to work, and we're all guessing a bit what those are. I think Genia is, by his ceiling, our best 9. So I expect him to start. I would have no issue, if he is sub-par, with Powell or whoever getting the crack.
Now watch, and I'll be completely wrong and I'm sure the queue will form to tell me so! :p
I'm tracking to still be right!
So, hold off forming the queue. :D

Pretty excited about our three debutants. Whilst I don't expect two of them to feature much, this is the first time in a while I feel like the debutants are potentially more talented than the people they're replacing.

So by position:

Props: Sio, Slipper, Robertson, Ala'alatoa, Kepu, Tupou
Hooker: Fainga'a, Uelese, Latu
Locks: Arnold, Rodda, Simmons, Salakaia-Loto
Backrow: Hooper, Jones, Naisarani, Dempsey, Valetini, Wright
Scrumhalf: Genia, White, Powell
Flyhalf: Foley, Leali'ifano
Centres: Kerevi, Kuridrani, To'omua, Hodge, Ashley-Cooper
Back three: Beale, Banks, Haylett-Petty, Koroibete, Maddocks

Working on the assumption that no non-injured players will be introduced, to trim that down to 31 for the RWC, the following will be chopped:
1 x prop - probably Robbo
2 or 3 x loosies to make way for Pocock and/or Samu (net -1)
1 x centre - AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper)

I'd prefer a strike winger over Maddocks, but I guess Banks can be used as either.

Starting team looks about right. I'll tip:

16. Uelese
19. LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto)
20. Wright
21. Powell
22. Lilo
23. Banks
