Slipper is a fast improving LH who can play TH at a pinch. Hopefully Alexander will gain strength and find form over the course of Super rugby next year but unfortunately he will probably be playing LH at the Brumbies.
The other options at TH are Maafu and Big Al. It's a shame Deans did not go with Baxter earlier in the year when fit as he probably would have been much better than Maafu.

I don't see a way forward for Alexander next year. He needs time at tight head and without it may well be overtaken by one of the other tight heads by the time of the World Cup. The Brumbies are not doing the right thing for Australian rugby. The ARU should organise some sort of deal.
As I've said many times before... I wish the Brumbies could do a swap with the Tahs... Kepu for Ma'afu...
It works best for everyone... Kepu gets a starting position at the Brumbies... and the Tahs are not going to be worse off with Ma'afu as a backup TH...
When does Alexanders contract with the Brumbies expire?
If they continue to play him at 1 then he may well move franchises for a better opportunity.
It will cost him by staying and playing 1 if it means he loses his starting spot in the Wallabies to Slipper or Weeks.
What have the Brumbies got in the cupboard in the way of looseheads?

He may well like LH but it could cost him a starting spot at the RWC after how it has gone this year.
Admittedly he was injured but playing on the other side all year didn't help his TH play at all.
The selectors may actually choose to reward the best performed Super THs next year and go with them.

well let's wait and see what happens in the S15.
People are picking Slipper at loose head but he could end up seeing more time at THP for the Reds, with Daley and Holmes playing.
I think we will need to consider players where they play S15. So if that means we can only consider Alexander a starting 1, then so be it. We don't have to rebuild anymore. Next year is the year. So we can just pick our best performed THP be it Laurie Weeks, Al Baxter, Tim Fairbrother, James Slipper or Salesi Ma'afu.
Maybe the Brumbies should sweet talk the ARU to see if they can trade Slipper for Ma'afu... now that's a win win...
Slipper is obviously a better LH but will be stuck at TH for the Reds... and Alexander will be a stuck at LH for the Brumbies...
Everybody wins...

I'm not sure what the love over Alexander starting is all about - hasn't shown anything this year at TH and doesn't play there for the Brumbies. Good bench option, however, as he can cover both sides.

As for Phil Waugh... he'd be the 4th best openside in the country if George Smith was still here...
If only Waugh had of retired instead of Smith... *sigh*
