Lee - I think Vickerman was our premier lock for a few years, definitely, but also remember that we hardly had a lot of world class locks in that period. He was a lineout leader, and did the hard, tight work. I liked him, and indeed still think he was a very good player. In his prime, he would walk into the Wallabies side now. But I remember when Vickerman was the premier lock for us, wondering if he would make the SA side. And, I recall thinking that he would not.

By the way, I think that Horwill has the potential to be a better lock than Vickerman (albeit, a different type of lock - Horwill will never touch Vickerman in the lineout). But, Horwill sadly seems more injury prone than even Vickerman was.
