Watching the game now, though i know the result so congrats to them Welshies! Been a longtime coming, and hope JdV's gets better soon.

Now for the welsh.. What is with you guys and 15 man mauls!
Remember they came up with the idea in 6n a couple of years ago? Unfortunately it worked and Scott Williams scored. Had hoped we'd left it behind

I remember they tried it, they also used it against NZ and scored. It's just weird. Especially since your line out isn't the most accurate, big gamble.

Cuthbert's attempt to maul was the best bit really. But hey, you got the win and that is all that history will say.

We deserved it. South Africans were knocked off their game by our bunch of big thickos running suicidally into contact

6th feb in Cardiff will be interesting. England have laid out their plan for rwc. its a simple plan based on percentages.

In fact it's the same plan as every rwc! thought Lancaster was different but I guess the pressure to get wins has got to him

I predict that it'll be a brutal game, two massively physical sides involved. Easier said than done, but I have said it before, the key to beating Wales in my opinion is keeping Jamie the Jaw under wraps. Fast ball over the gain line is what Wales thrive on and he is your best ball carrier.

And for us I can't wait to see if anscombe is as good as him publicity. There's space for another class 10 in welsh squad and he's not going to get a gig at senior level for nz in a hurry

Bit early to make a judgement on Burgess... Personally I see him as having the potential of a fantastic 8, but we aren't short of those! 19 minutes in a rain soaked evening where he had 2 carries, though both were half decent, and hit a few rucks isn't enough to base a backline on.

As for Anscombe... I don't remember him ever setting the world alight, probably a good reason he left NZ at a young age. Though saying that if Evans hadn't had caps before coming to Quins he would have been our 10 for a while probably!

He was awesome for Rabbitohs. Great athlete. Great ethic. You d be insane to keep current centres with him available

Think Patchell has a higher ceiling development wise than Anscombe. He's got it all & could be a super player.

I am not arguing that there isn't an insane amount of potential there. But let him learn the game a bit at Bath. England vs Wales in Cardiff isn't a gentle debut.

As for England Centres... Well the selection policy is crazy atm! Eastmond did nothing wrong to get dropped imo, for a player who has been awful this year and never done anything at international level anyway. As for Barritt, I love his commitment, but he certainly isn't a top class player. Sure Tuilagi and Burrell were injured and they have both been half decent for England at 13, but JJ has been the form centre and wasn't even given a look.

True, think the dearth of outside halves might finally be over. whitchurch has become such a great sporting breeding ground since my days. Patchell, warbs, Gareth bale, geraint thomas.

Maybe you started the trend mate !:D
Patchell just needs a long injury free run, think he'll eventually settle at 10 with Anscombe at 15. Although Patchell could make an excellent 12, hope they don't move him around too much to hinder his development.

Last thing we want is for him to become a utility. Look what it did for Ook

Just watched the game.
Wales were basically handed the game on a platter with that rubbish yellow card.

The fact that you were stuck in SA's half for the length of Hendricks' sin bin (and then some) and still couldn't score a point was markedly average.

But that was overshadowed by how badly some of the main SA figures played; Lambie, le Roux, Hougaard all made some really simple errors.

You got the proverbial monkey off your back I suppose, so congratulations on the win.

For all our troubles in the forwards, I remain quietly confident that Wales are still our bunnies, and we'll get out of our pool with England.
