Disagree, let next year take care of itself.
Pocock should start for the tight exchanges and bring Hooper to take advantage of his speed as an impact player. Same with Simmons play him off the bench to lift the tempo up speed verse muscle.
If this works well then perhaps McMahon will start next year and Hooper on the bench.
I know Cheika will not do this and will start Hooper for the known future however that does not stop me from providing my analysis and suggestions.

There seems to be a recurring theme to your posts that you want any option that doesn't involve Hooper starting.
It's arguable that the pilfering player off the bench can have a greater impact because they get to play against tiring players who might be slightly slower or less effective with their cleanouts.
