Guys we'd love to be putting up match reviews of VRU games on the front page like we're doing for ACT and QPR games. If you're interested in writing a review post it in this thread or/and PM me the review.
Thanks Sully

Few clubs have their own reports up on their website, Souths used to get Leader write ups, maybe you can link in?

ROUND 12 7 July
Boroondara v Box Hill
Harlequin v Sth Districts
Footscray v Melbourne
Pwr House v End Hills
Melb Uni v Moorabbin

Game of the round this week will definitely be either Footscray v Melbourne or Quins v Souths.

All tight games I reckon (aside from the Uni/Rams game):
Boroondara v Box Hill (8 v 9)
Harlequin v Sth Districts (2 v 3)
Footscray v Melbourne (1 v 4)
Pwr House v End Hills (6 v 7)
Melb Uni v Moorabbin

I'm helping with the ACT and Qld comps as well. I'm getting around to emailing the clubs. Just haven't got there yet.

You're right, all are close games but I would definitely rank Footscray v Melbourne as "the one to watch".

Probably right, I think Boro v Box Hill will be close and a real battle of the forwards.

Are you getting to any games?

Yeah usually a House game or two each weekend. Frustrating season to watch this year compared to past ones.....How about you?

Apologies, for posting in the wrong thread, but this seems the most likely place where I'll find the answers that I am looking for. I am researching Schools Rugby in Victoria. The following article provides context: http://schoolstribune.com/victoria-state-team-named-for-aussie-nationals-p612-1.htm

Is it correct that the VSRU comps I & II (14 schools all up) are the only schools rugby competition in the State? Where do the rest of the players in the VIC Schools squad come from?

Very few players from the VSRU made the Victoria Schools XV at the National Schools Championship (played last week) and even fewer in 2011.

Thanks!

A quick scan of this article reads that it is very poorly informed or researched. If you struggle for information on the juniors and their backgrounds then all you need to do is contact the VRU. Majority of the players come out of the clubs as Kronic has indicated, 2 of the Grammar boys and one of the SKC kids are on scholarship and play club rugby a lot as well....the simple fact is that the vast majority of players are of Polynesian background and do not typically attend the private schools.

While the schools mentioned in the article may not have rugby mentioned in their websites and bios, they do play the game and the VRU have recently played regional tournaments to actively engage their demographics more often. The VRU is good on this, they have also set up regional tournaments at the start of the season to help inform the selection process of the junior sides.

DO our purists get a raw deal? In my opinion no, we just know where to look.

Games this weekend:
ROUND 13 14 July
Melbourne v Boroondara
End Hills v Harlequin
Pwr House v Footscray
Box Hill v Moorabbin
Sth Districts v Melb Uni

My picks in bold. House v Foostcray will be a cracker of a game IMO.

Who have you got this week element? House v Footscray is always a good game, 2 crackers last year and a solid one at the start of the season....the Westgate rivalry is fierce!

Remind the Hills beat Quins in rd 1....can't see a repeat with the scores that Quins are posting at the moment....although Souths seem to be having a few issues. Still, Hills are in the mix and could be an other good game for the round down at Frog Hollow.
