Under-20 Competitions including Oceania & World U20s

2019 side was the best outfit BBC has ever put together.
There was 6 lads who played in 2018 as U16's stepping up. Could have been a couple more as well.
I think the 2020 team got accolades due to breaking the drought but to be honest I don't think the opposition was as good as 2019.

The 2019 "final" game V TSS was the best schoolboy rugby match I have ever seen in 40 plus years. Miskin Oval had never seen so many spectators.
2019 TSS were GPS Premiers
2018 Nudgee were GPS Premiers

I watched The Season on the 2019 team. Very talented. Only goal kicking cruelled the result and stopped them from getting the job done against an equally strong TSS. The 2020 team was the redemption story so also enjoyed The Season "sequel" on them too. Hard to compare but undoubtedly the fellas in the 19 team that backed up and won the first BBC stand alone premiership in 2020 would have learnt from the year before.

Devastating losses are just that, so it is good to see so many of that era still playing.

National U19 Championship DATE - 8 October - 12 November 2022

Under 19
teams to be selected after the respective grade competitions are completed.
bit of a bummer for the lads who are 20 this year.
Covid killed off any opportunities for them to show their wares.
They are now having to start again in grades to develop repoire with recruiters and selectors.

Surprised to not see brothers players in that list considering the rugby nursery pathway they’ve been as of years late.

Titi Nofoagatotoa? Did he use to play at brothers?

Dowling Grealy Aubrey is the back 3 isn’t it?

I’d go Bowen over Gordon.

Thomas has played many super rugby games. He’s the 9.

A fair few names in the squad that even I have heard of so should bode well. Hopefully RA can put together some type of tournament during international window for non Wallabies to play and give some of the junior wallabies some exposure, perhaps maybe fielding a Junior Wallaby team against the Super Rugby sides...could be a great platform for the team to develop and gel ahead of Junior World Cup.

Anyone prepared to put together a suggested starting 15?

Dowling, Aubrey or Grealy for 15?
Wilson or Thomas at 9?
Bowen or Gordon at 10?
Agree with Reg on the 9 , Thomas would be a lock in there . Was understudy to Lachy Alberts in the U18’s of 2019 and would have been a close call between the two for last year had the games against NZ gone ahead. His exposure and improvement over the past 12 months makes him a stand out, has played Super Rugby and has a QPR premiership already in the bag, easy choice for me.

Based on last year Grealy gets the 15 jersey, they’ve played very little footy since unfortunately. Again as Reg mentioned, Floyd will likely get a wing spot.

Haven’t seen enough of the options at 10 to make comment other than the Gordon family must be doing something right in developing 10’s . Carter would have most likely started there last year with Pasitoa at 12. Hopefully it all goes ahead as planned !

From what I’ve seen, Wilson and Bowen have built an excellent partnership for Easts this year and have played lots of games together.

Dowling has played A7s and for Randwick.
Aubrey and Grealy have not played much rugby and not much impact in the games they have appeared at club level.

But I think Grealy probably gets first opportunity at 15. I would prefer to see specialist wingers and Aubrey off the bench.

Dowling has played Randwick First Grade at 10 and Australian 7s. He's a year older than Gordon and Annan, who will get their chance next year along with Hough. Gordon, Hough and Faifua are all Wests so I can see what you're doing there Reg.

Perhaps it is wishful thinking that many QLDers will make the first XV!

I do give you Brown over Tagg. He is propping in Eastwood First Grade.
