Majority of the side play 1st XV at their schoolsQLD always produce tall timber.
There is a clear skill difference man to man in this one.
Anyone who knows more about the QLD side. Are many of these boys playing 1st XV footy or 16s?
A lot of the NSW guys do and I’m wondering if it’s making a difference having played against/with boys turning 18.
Don't reckon this is overly fair. How many Vics at the RWC? Valetini, Leota, Uelese, Pone, Tuipulotu, even the Romanian 10.The level of talent Melbourne is producing is really making me question whether we'd be better off with the old 3 team model being ACT, NSW and QLD
100% they should. Can the ARU sign Onitoni Large now... Please.
Geez the basic skills of some of our best u19 players are poor, bad passes, dropped balls, kicks charged down, crooked line out throws. You wonder what sort of coaching these players have received through junior levels. Maybe centralisation is needed to provide better coaching from a young age. Interesting that the ball runners are strong, maybe it was pass it to the big kids in juniors and forget about everything else.
I'd hoped they were just rusty last week coming off the bye and integrating the schoolboy reps but it's not looking much better this week. I guess they don't play too many games together which explains some of it, but not so much the quality of catch and pass and other basics.yeah agree. This is scary. I was happy to excuse it in the 16s but this is pretty dire. Terrible attack structures by Qld in particular
I hadn't thought of that but it makes a hell of a lot of sense. That and missing the interstate competition which really holds back the top guys and set piece development in particular.Don’t know how the forums go with Covid talk but I was talking to a coach of some girl’s basketball at a rep level around 16/17 years old and they have noticed a drop off in skills they think is a result of missing up to 2 years of coaching and meaningful play.
The 19s comp overall is very underwhelming. It’s a level that seems not far above the 16s with the obvious exception of size.
I don't think anyone is contesting that, more observing that this generation looks a step down from recent ones evenOccam’s razor. Our developmental pathways are crap.
Someone in particular? The Rebels' hookers had trouble with their lineouts on Saturday but mainly due to the dominance of the Brumbies' jumpers and the almost gale force wind blowing throughout the game.I spy another aussie hooker that's great around the park but can't hit a barn door.....
