What if the forward pass is the one before that?

I'm not keen on just throwing all the world's problems at the TMO. You may as well have a video robot reffing the game from a control room and blaring out penalties over a loud speaker.
The ref will usually ask one of two questions when he wants some video clarification:
1) Try or no try (Very simply, was the pill grounded. Nothing else).
2) Is there any reason I cannot award a try? (I saw the ball grounded, but am not sure if the motions leading up to that was legal. Please check).
Anything before the try line is the control of the ref and the AR's. TMO shouldn't be allowed within coo-ee of any decisions there.

The Saffas just demonstrated the importance of having a competent goal kicker in the team. They never looked like scoring a try and every penalty they got inside the opposition half (or thereabouts) was turned into points. Those penalty shots were impressive by M Steyne. The ABs looked a lot like the Wabs tonight - plenty of line breaks and try scoring opportunities going to waste as the result of pushed passes and bad handling. Personally, I couldn't have been happier with the result and thought the highlight of the match was the shot of F.Steyne and his ridiculous hair-do on the sideline......did anyone else catch that?

For me motm was Jaque Fourie. He's gone up in my estimation from superb to gifted in the past two games. Broke the back of the kiwi onslaught twice and that let the Boks back into the game. Did it to us last week too. Surprise is everything in battle and as far as I am concerned rugby is no different there. Kiwis had it, the Boks were reeling, then Fourie dragged them back into the game - and the Kiwis let them. No way the Boks would have won if the ABs had walked away with two tries, but instead of changing it up by going to the mattresses with pick n go, re earning the rights, they kept bashing their head. Bit remniscent of the Wallaby loss v the ABs actually. But we learnt from it going to Saffaland. ABs didn't.
Didn't see from SBW what I feared (Wallaby wise), but his defense was excellent, and he set up a series of plays well. Starting to think he needs to start playing himself a bit more. He may not get a chance but I continue to think he's better than Nonu. Happily I doubt we will find out.
Slade was average. Kicking options were poor. Too early too tell but I have to say I think Weepu was an inspired choice for 10 from a 'give it a go' point of view by Henry. His game vision and kicking options are always great and he did some nice pushing into space today. He's still a LFF tho.
Cowan was superb and shouldn't have come off, but I spose Ellis had to be given a shot.
Dagg and Toeava... Pure class. And it wasn't like Gear was bad.
AB backrow were outclassed today imo, tactically. They failed to compete and the boks did a masterful job of punishing them for it, esp with the boot.
Good to see Habana stepping up, him and JP played really well, I confess I thought their spark was gone until tonight. Brussow. Huge. BDP. Well I don't know about scrum voodoo but he was pretty huge elsewhere and my money is on he was pretty damn huge in the scrum too.
Re the TMO decision. I have my suspicions about how the Saffas would have handled a reverse situation (badly), but the facts are it wasn't a try. Let it go boys.

Wow, watching the replay now. Amazing to see a forward pass given! We can almost call it a test case! This call could go down in history!

Well done PB to your guys. It just goes to show that the rugby the Boks played at the last RWC and in 2009 is still good enough to win a game in 3N in 2011, albeit not against the the top NZ team.
All you need is guys like Heinrich Brüssow in your team and keep backing up at every ruck. BdP played bloody hard in the physical exchanges too but showed petulance when he was replaced and lost points with me. The Kiwis didn't contest enough and paid the price of losing the ruck turnover battle. It was surprising to see their scrum being bettered and it was funny listening to the Kiwi commentators trying to find the right words to describe it.
In the backs Jacque Fourie was valuable with and without the ball. He did the same bloody trick against the Blacks as he did against Oz: chiming into the AB line and swiping a pass near his goal line running the wrong way. Habana played with a high work rate that made a difference and JdV had a top defensive game. I thought FdP was quite ordinary though and his box kicks were not as of earlier years. M. Steyn played his Naas game well.
Nevertheless the Boks will be disappointed with their lack of threat with ball in hand.
Like the Wallabies last week the Blacks blew a few try scoring chances. As with Oz there were several series of bad passing and added to it many bad decisions at the tackle. They were lucky to get their try from a clear forward pass and the disallowing of what may have been a second was probably karma.
Henry would have wanted to see a lot more from the players outside his main 15 and 22 but he didn't get what he was looking for. He would have been particularly disappointed in Slade who was not a patch of what he was when he came off the bench last year in Sydney. Peeru looked better in his stint.
Kahui played well; Dagg and Toeava opened the Boks up a few times but sometimes lost the ball in the tackle. The scrummies were good and SBW very stern on defence. Thomson had a poor game and A. Williams and Myth weren't much better.
Well done to the Boks, but once the music stops they will have to consider how many players will be joining their starting XV compared to the numbers who will be joining the All Blacks XV.

Saw this - agreed "It's easy to look good coming off the bench when the starter us nit having a good one (as Colin well knows), but, gee, Piri looks like he was born to play 10. Has the right skills and personality for the role and was not afraid to just go himself when his outside options were cut off. Slade's reluctance to take contact when necessary was *gasp* almost Cooper-esque."

From the first time I saw Weepu a few years ago I thought "that blokes a natural" and could never understand why he didn't play more often for the ABs. Backup 10? Could be his job. And they need a decent backup - remeber what happened 4 years ago?
