I'd like to see them stay in Griffith. it’s become a part of their culture having a HQ in the leafy Manuka district.the players love it.

The land development consortium has specialist partners which is needed to ensure the project is successful. The Brumbies are astutely using an asset to create long-term wealth for the club, a first in OZ super rugby.. They chose to do this over putting in a poker machine place and call it a rugby club which is responsible…

I’d also like to see Canberra stadium finished or better still a new purpose built (covered) rectangular field built closer to the city, that would be fantastic. Perhaps around near the old Canberra pool…

No, I'd prefer they leave Griffith Oval and give it back to Easts! Griffith is Easts home, and not training there sucks!

The Brumbies need a facility similar to the Canberra Raiders one in Bruce. Ideally close to the AIS, UC and Calvary Hospital as well as Canberra Stadium. However, should there be moves to create a new stadium in/around the city, a move close to this would be prudent.

The current building is old and decrepit, and Griffith oval, whilst beautiful and picturesque is in need of renovation of its facilities. Given it has heritage protection now, any major changes are unlikely, and therefore, not suitable for a professional sporting team like the Brumbies.

the Raiders training field at Bruce is the most uninspiring environment to train in. A barren field beside a main road with a few dull buildings on one side, that’s exactly what the Brumbies don’t need.

The Griffith HQ can be improved or pushed over and rebuilt. I doubt the building is heritage listed, the field and surrounding parkland is. the Brumbies would still mix up where they train to keep it interesting for the guys, jezz everything is close in Canberra, all points of the city are within 20 minutes of the CDB.

I really think if the ACT government misses the opportunity to bring a pro sports stadium into the civic quarter they will miss a massive opportunity to support the hotels and businesses in the central area and encourage local tourism. And loose opportunity revitalize the city.

Look at Sydney’s Homebush everyone hates going there, because its barren, has no personality and few businesses around it to give it any real life even after 13 years. The opposite is Melbourne with its sports grounds located close to the CBD. They’re well patronized because their proximity to the city, i.e. MCG, Tennis centre, FI track and the new rugby stadium. All the city businesses and hotels benefit from this and employs plenty of Melbournites to make it all happen. ACT need to build on this model for Canberra. Another remote decentralized stadium would be ridiculous and no real asset to the city. Bruce stadium struggles to pull crowds now mainly because it is remote, open and cold and lifeless.

It's a null point regarding Austin St. - its being bulldozed for 150 (est) apartments.
Griffith won't be their HQ.

Something in Reid/O'Connor or the like would be nice, especially if the stadium eventuates.

Still some question marks remain over some players. Silvia Silvia unsighted with his ACL, is ready to step to play Hooker.

Cox and Situati unsighted in the backs

Im not sure why people think developing land is the holy grail of long term financial success... Its more then likely going to provide the Brumbies with a cash injection, but the developer is going to take a significant cut and already the planning and approval process would have cost a decent amount as well.

It’s not the Holy Grail, just a bloody good idea...

Profit can be reinvested, some of the properties can be rented kept and others sold or used by staff / players as a part of their contracts, etc...

The question around the traps is not that the development is worth a considerable amount, but who will get what from the resulting product. Owing to the fact that the Brumbies didn't have a huge amount of capital, developers have come to the party - so how much the Brumbies actually end up with is anyone's guess.

I hope that the money resulting is spent carefully. Very carefully.
