Wallaroo's start their campaign 7am Saturday (NSW EST).

I'll be watching the games on Fox 2 although I'll know the result as they are repeats. I agree it is great & refreshing to see players playing for the love of the game. The women's rugby has a system where it's players can be from anywhere in Australia, come from any school whether it be public, small denominational or private school, & be from the bush or city & not have to relocate to be selected for top honours. When you think about it Aus womens rugby do need more support from the ARU but their pathways to reach the top are light years ahead of the mens.

I agree. ACT players don't have to go and play in a Sydney or Brisbane comp to get recognised, unlike a lot of the men. I will be avoiding the scores until I can see the games. I am slightly peeved that Australia is in such a hard pool, but I'm sure they will fight damned hard. Good luck!

I went to the Rugby Museum at Twickenham today whilst I'm over here on holiday. They've got a special exhibition on the Womens RWC on at the moment, very interesting. One of the displays is the cup itself - photo attached.

Can someone explain how exactly its possible for us to be in a Pool with South Africa, NZ & Wales ? Its the equivalent of a soccer world cup pool consisting of France, Italy, Brazil & Portugal. It doesn't make an ounce of sense to me.

The rankings in Womens Rugby and the history of the WRWC are totally different to the mens game. USA, England and NZ are the pedigree teams with various challengers. This page on the website explains more : http://www.rwcwomens.com/history/index.html

Anybody watching the Wales vs Wallaroos game?

Its actually some very enjoyable viewing, these girls hold nothing back in the physicality stakes, and if it weren't for the 3 yellow cards that Australia received, im sure the scoreline would be a lot bigger.

There style of play is commendable as well, they are tenacious at the breakdown(hence 3 yellow cards) and aggressive in defence, the wallabies should really take some pointers from these girls.

There should have been 1 to Wales in the 1st minute for the late head high tackle on #10 Tui Ormsby.

Agreed on the physicality and I quite liked winger Nicole Beck's efforts in scoring the 1st try in the corner despite 3 Welsh defenders. The sideline conversion from Beck was also good.

Just watching now, that was a great. And the kick was aswell.

They play really positivley, very enjoyable to watch.

Good win by the Girls over Wales yesterday. Copped an absolute caning from the Frog ref, with some pretty dubious calls. They rallied well in defence especially when down to 13.

Discipline and adapting to the referee will have to be a very big focus before the next game.

Go Wallaroos.

The lady version of the Haka was cute, Wallaroos walked towards it arms linked before the crowd started belting out Waltzing Matilda

The Ferns are playing a smart brand of rugby. Finding touch deep in the Wallaroos half whenever they're in their own half.

Ferns won a lot of our pressure line outs and had all the territory and ball, yellow card for Oz didn't help.

1% of rugby played in the Ferns 22 at 35 minutes of play. Last 5 was all played in the Ferns 22, much like they're male compatriots and after repeated warnings, no card was shown for repeat infringements in the red zone. They finally got a girl sent to the naughty stool just before the whistle when Australias attacking oppertunity 5 out had past, and they were stuck in there own half.

Too much class from the Ferns at the end of the day, they played some brilliant all for one physical rugby that couldn't be matched by their trans-tasman boob buddies. Just wasn't the Wallaroos' day, they showed silky skills only to get unstuck at the last pass. A lot of positives to take into next week though, they got some excellent turnover ball and broke the line a couple of times, but much like the Wallabies - the basics were lacking.

After watching the ferns I now understand how the All Blacks get a way with a lot of the shit they do. It appears to me that the order du jour is infringe in droves so as to make it look normal.

The comentator was blasting them all game for diving over and using pillars at the lineout and mauls. The rest of the world must take note. Hopefuly this will bring about a rule overhaul by the IRB and reinstatment some laws that work, such as rucking

stand-outs for mine in a well beaten team were Sharni Williams, Deb Hodgkinson and Alex Hargreaves

special mention to Nicole Beck who chased down 7's flyer Carla Hohepa who was well on her way to the try line. And the female commentator.
