Arnold having a monster of a game for the Vikings, but has just gone down with what looks to be a knee injury..........

He's limping around on it and has come off the field, so hopefully not too serious.

Guy gets given time in the training squad because he has been playing bloody well, this joint start having aneurysms that he will be played out of position in some glorified trial

Totally missed the point.

Fucking stupid post.

Just a cork, so hopefully all good for the Bledisloe......... if Cheika picks him, which he should, but............

Can I ask - has there been any official statement that DP is being groomed as a 10, or is this speculation from posters?

Adams was born and raised in NZ and played NZ U20's so I wouldn't think he'd be eligible or more to the point want to play for Australia.

1) not suggesting he be picked for the Wallabies. Just for a invitational Aussie team to take on the Barbarians.

2) how long has be been in Australia now? A couple of years? If so only One more year until eligible

It was reported in both News and Fairfax.......
RISING Reds playmaker Duncan Paia’aua will be groomed as a no. 10 option for the Wallabies after being called into Michael Cheika’s squad ahead of the third Bledisloe Cup match.

It is understood Cheika was keen to get Brumbies scrum coach Dan Palmer on the Spring Tour as a temporary measure but he has prior commitments. “I have spoken to Nick. We have had communication. And I have spoken to Dan Palmer as well. Dan has state commitments too,” Cheika said.

I think what most people have forgotten in this whole debate over whether DP should be in the squad before Cooper and Lance is that Cheika isn't usually too concerned about whether his selections appear consistent. If he likes the look of one player he'll chuck him in (think back to his differing treatment of McMahon and Fardy) and leave us all debating whether it is fair or not.

It wouldn't really surprise me if Timani gets left behind on the EOYT. He looked off the pace at NRC level again yesterday against Brisbane City. I can't see him getting another run in the test side anytime soon.

And there's a couple of 8's in the NRC killing it right now.......... I'm pretty happy where they'll be playing next year. I wouldn't mind seeing at least one of them going on the EOYT as a development tourist as Cheika did last year with a few players.

Yeah, I'd totally consider taking Rob Valetini on the EOYT.

Given Naisarani isn't eligible until late next year I probably wouldn't bring him in as a development player until June next year.

With some of the options presenting themselves I really don't see much point persisting with Timani whilst he is playing like he is currently. He could be a long way out of the picture fairly soon.

Maybe he just strung together his best form for a period in 2016 and actually isn't a particularly great player?

The relevance of NRC form to test form is fairly questionable. It's two big steps down, played at a different intensity and with a different focus. That being said, he only really had a great game once, against an under-cooked Wales side last year.

I agree to an extent, but the onus has to be on Timani to work his way back in and right now he's not close to doing it.

I'm not suggesting we pick Valetini to play for the Wallabies anytime soon but I'd have Timani as a distant third to McMahon and Dempsey at number 8 in the Wallabies squad right now and would be seriously considering taking someone else on tour.

Yeah but you left out the bit where he loses interest because some other bright new shiny often ex mungo object shows up and he behaves like a hormone charged teenager and rushes him into the team.
What was Naiyaravoro’s test career all about FFS?

Melbourne were terrible vs City, but I didn’t think Timani was too bad.

He was about the only one trying to knock the City forwards backwards. Put some big shots on in the wet, just didn’t have any help and faded out as the game went on.

yeah I thought he started well but really faded. Fitness not up to it perhaps? One of those players who just needs more game time than training.

This is true. But at least he does eventually drop them when he realises that they're not ready, Hanigan, or never will be which is a step up from sticking with them. He does find some gems occasionally though. I thought Coleman was a bit green to be in the test team last year but he's a world class player now.

Except Lance was told he wasn’t in line for the Wallabies hence he took a short term contract and is even considering taking an OS contract if anything comes of his time in Europe.

Quade agreed to play for Alan Jones because he hadn’t heard anything from Cheika.
