Winning HC of the NRC perhaps? It'll promote more buy-in from the coaches (Coleman has stated he's not as emotionally invested in the comp this year as he should be) and it gives a "fair" way for the coach to be selected. It'd result in some coaches from WA / VIC being selected, as opposed to the recently-retired-professional-player-now-coach-of-Randwick-2nd-grade year in year out.

Jeez, while I'm not impressed with Chek particularly with his win/loss stats and some crazy selections, the idea of having a "lucky dip" coach for the EOYT is just plain crazy.

THAT coach could bring in his own crazies for the tour, ruin the value of the Wallaby jersey and basically stuff up the national team, it's culture and whatever progress that has been made.

Ah, Scrubber I think you've missed the point. Just as we / NZ have taken player tour apprentices in the past, this coach would be an "apprentice" as well. They'd simply go on tour to observe and learn from the other coaches. The idea is that exposing an amateur Shute Shield level coach to the high performance environment would be good for their coaching development.

No one is suggesting that we should let Jimmy from the pub down the road act as head coach for the Wallabies for the entire spring tour.

Manenti is not a crazy, he is a bloody good coach. Neither is Cron. There are a few pretty good SS coaches around.

What we should really do is import a bunch of highly educated and motivated 457 Visa immigrants. We can pay them less than minimum wage and they'll still be more motivated than locally sourced employees. This'll also help with the ARU's bottom line. It also seems to be standard Australian practice. Ticks all the boxes.
