Michael - thanks so much for sharing that. Perhaps the best rugby-related article I've read this year. Very moving and in many ways a wonderful advertisement for the code.
What for me is certain is that Lancaster would represent a far better bet as Wallaby HC than the 'quietly anointed as next Wallaby HC' Larkham who provided little at the Brumbies as HC, left them an attack-free, identity-less team legacy, and has added little to the attacking coherence and innovation whilst at the Wallabies. The untouched 'golden boy' of elite Australian rugby apparently most qualified for all his coaching positions as he was such a wonderful player back in the day. A bit like Rod Kafer in his new role over-sighting Australia's rugby coaching resources - 'wonderful player was Rod and such a good commentator on Foxtel, no matter that he has next to no pro coaching experience'.
(Re Lancaster and the Reds: The QRU is perhaps the stupidest and most recklessly insular of all our RUs (and that is really saying something) and Lancaster would have been far too a big a threat to the prevailing QLD rugby mates-based culture at Ballymore.)

You are right, whoever runs that Flashscore site (never heard of it before) would have to have gotten a massive scoop the Wallaby selectors didn’t even know if.A simple google search suggests that there is no credible source for this. Also, that the same article ran in June 2017.

I just don't know where to start in a response to this. Especially in a run up to a particular game. OK, to start with FP fabulous reference, just fabulous.
And to Cheika, great - article of interest.
After that I want to recognize that any rugby statement is of interest, but I am so annoyed by some of the statements I don't know where to start. But here is a clear statement from me. I am gearing up to watch SOO live. Haven't watched live mungo in about 25 years.
I wont miss the WB game this weekend. BUT It's just not important. Well not much anyway.
ps talking about important - how many of us are watching the QRU Premier comp? Hell, now that I WONT miss this weekend!
In Rugby we have important and we have IMPORTANT. Wallabies and Cheika are the former.

Interesting response. Whether we like it or not, more and more people are sharing Dru’s view, or worse. I have mates who’ve been rugby followers all their life who are now completely disengaged.
As for ‘what’s SOO’ - Australian rugby would kill to have an event which attracts even half of the interest and fan engagement.

No worries FP. I know I didn’t specify in my post, but I wasn’t responding to you or Reg.
And my slight at Slim was probably misplaced as I know he is being tongue in cheek.
I thought it was a good article from Cheika. Whatever else Cheika may or may not be he strikes me as a person who genuinely tries to consider the bigger picture - but seems to attract criticism regardless at times. So I get a certain level of defensiveness in response to Dru’s post.
And you’re right - you and I aren’t going to solve anything on here.
All that said, I felt though that Dru’s comments were indicative of the core wide spread issue of the game - falling engagement sigh its traditional base, coupled with a complete lack of engagement with the general public. Unfortunately I come across quite a few within rugby circles who don’t seem to think that is a problem. In that context I found Derpus & Michael’s responses interesting.
