The Wallabies Thread

Ahh OK, I thought reminding someone that confirmation bias can be an issue (we all do it) was engaging in debate.

That's bullshit. You were being completely dismissive and then you follow up with an entirely sarcastic/mocking post that you would know will only inflame the situation. I expect that stuff from guys like Slim (who might I add really kicked all this off and then went quiet - classic) but you're better than that.

Well since y'all are south of the boarder and don't know Scott on a personal or professional basis.

I guess I'll have to take your word for it. :)

There's a reason Scott doesn't post in the forums anymore, let alone the front page. It was not because he was getting paid to exclusively write front page articles for The Roar.

And if you didn't care Fatprop, you wouldn't have bothered to reply.

Loving this too and fro. :D

I am south of the border and I've spoken to the Great Phantom himself, even in person, for real, you know off web, when people are actually in the same room and you know interact, with actual voices. I know it was him and not a holograph because the beer disappeared. I must be special.

Its always dangerous to assume you "know" people and who they actually associate with in real life (you know that off web place) because you see where they post from and who they proclaim their allegiance to.

@ Slim and Tomkin - when will you learn? Brumbies are the left overs from Tahs and Reds, of course you are not privileged, that is why you live in Canberra with the Politicians. :p

Reading this thread is the first time I hear of Scott Allen. And reading another thread now I know more than enough about broadcasting rights and FTA and what not.

Where is the rugby chat?

Here's an idea. Get rid of the icons showing team support. So much shit on these forums stems largely from what posters put there. Yes, old posters will still know who's who in the hood but it might change for some. It's sort of getting old and I'm afraid it seems as bad as ever.

Sorry for posting this here. Just becoming clear from the last couple of pages what a shit fight this place often becomes lately.

Anyway, anyone care about the rugby?

A couple years ago when I first started I had my team's icon, but I removed it pretty much straight away after seeing the prejudices they created.

To respond to your question about the rugby; I'm pretty pumped for what should be a fun game. Wales is a nice change from playing the SH teams.

Personally I'm really interested to see how Timani & Hodge go. They both have a great chance to stake their claim to their jersey.

Reece Hodge must be pinching himself regarding how good his year has been.

Same with Tom Robertson and Allan Ala'alatoa. 12 months back these guys were hoping for Super Rugby jerseys and now they've all gotten 5+ test caps under their belt and a paid trip around Europe. I'd trade a lot for that experience.

Must be bittersweet for them. Imagine being a young front rower and winning an all expenses paid rugby trip to Europe.

Then being told that beer and pizza were off limits.

Let's hope last night's performance was a portent of things to come. For me the most encouraging things were the outstanding efforts put in by the tight five away from set pieces and the development of Hodge at inside centre. Oh, and we won all our lineouts.

Is it possible our next great gold team will be built on a pair of very, very good second-rowers?

When big locks are running hard and passing the ball accurately it makes such a difference to the side. The Retallick and Whitelock combo is something we've been so far away from for years and now we have a partnership which could provide that dynamic, physical combination.

Look what happens when they aren't there for the ABs!

Only real weak spot I see at the moment is 6 and maybe a winger.

Plus Hooker post-Moore. We don't have a solid back up waiting to go. Hopefully Latu can step up.

I would absolutely love for Morahan or Naivalu to be given a shot and nail down the jumper. Likewise, against the French Baa Baa's I want Dempsey to put in a performance so good that Cheika has no choice but to pick him in the later tests.

At this stage for me its becoming ABMOF*. Actually, hows this for a thought - Simmons to 6? He's a more effective Mumm and has been in better form than Fardy, whilst providing a line out option. Could be a solid short-term solution as hes played there before.

*anyone but Mumm or Fardy.
