Paraphrasing Robert Menzies. To Bazza:

"I did but see him passing by, and yet I loathe her till I die".

Wonderful to have met you. Really.

In summary:

Sometimes a goose,
Also a fine player
Can't please everyone

Seems TC is as good at causing dissent on G&G as he is in an opposition team!

His biggest sin it seems to me is that he isn't an exciting player; we Aussies seem to be mesmerised by dynamic centres. Carter is more in the Bunce mold than the Horan mold. I daresay if he also conducted himself in the way Bunce did he'd be a much more liked player, but still not seen by the majority of this board as a potential wallaby. I'd love to see him given a shot at it.

Meantime he deserves some kudos here for the podcast, damn tough thing to do in a hostile audience. Good on ya Tom.

Exceptionally good interview with Dean Mumm on Talkin Sport this afternoon, and Dean spoke of how Tommy is respected amongst his fellow team members, the good stuff he does off the field. My time in the Sydney Uni Gym has seen Tom helping people with rehab and young guys with gym work when he himself was in bandages, last year sometime, late. You wouldn't find a bad word from coaches about him, and recently I was told just how strong he is mentally. You cannot bu ymental toughness, and it is a great trait to have, a great trait to coach.

Horan was better at playing like Bunce than Bunce was. Horan was the most complete inside centre I've ever seen. He could play any style demanded by the situation and he could do it better than players for whom that style was their only style.
I dont think Bunce was particularly well liked by his opponents - he had a streak just like Carter's.
I am not suggesting that Carter as a footballer is a patch on Bunce - who was pretty bloody good.

Met Frank Bunce a few years back, carried himself well off the field. My chiropactor remains firm friends with him, and speaks very highly of him. Pity more people didn't play his uncompromising style in this day and age.

Of course his chiro is friends with him. Bunce probably generated hundreds of prospective clients for him!
Nah mate, my Chiro here in Aus is friends with Frank, has been for a long time. Dont think he has ever treated Frank or any recipients of Frank specials.
