I hate it when people who are quite genuinely speaking their minds feel the need to issue a phony apology. What is actually wrong with calling PdV a clown? P-Divvie is the guy who is making all the outlandish claims about the reffing, but apparently he gets to say what he likes (which is his right), but a commentator like Canno doesn't. I think it's ludicrous.
Springboks spokesperson Anthony Mackaiser on Thursday delivered Fox Sports, a Tri Nations broadcast rights holder, an ultimatum they immediately apologise or no longer have on-air access to South African players or management.
All of that is true fellas, it's how the media game is played (as much as I personally dislike it). I just like seeing someone making idiotic statements being called out every now and then. Unless of course, we just ignore them, which is a perfectly valid tactic. You can't reason with a seemingly unreasonable person.
Yes, BH, but we best be sure those panellists are reasonably consistent across the board. I have heard our coaches issue some quite ridiculous examples of muddled management speak, inconsistent assessments, and confusing PC statements re players etc, and it's quite rare that the Rugby Club gets stuck into them.
What Cannon said was disrespectful. Calling him a clown on National TV was stupid. We as viewers want to get reactions of coaches and players from various teams and insulting them will get you nowhere fast.
PdV may be a cockclown of the highest order but as a Rugby commentator Cannon should have known better.
It must be a nerve-wracking experience for the board of SA Rugby every time a mic is put in front of de Villiers...
