Well they must have dragged the Crusaders down to their incompetent level then. Oh and the incompetent Saders team beat the Tahs. So that makes the Tahs the most incompetent of the three no? :fishing

They play a very simple game, but if it comes off they are hard to beat.

Cheetahs by 7 in a bore-a-thon with a flash of brilliance from Nokwe in an otherwise incompetent affair. ;)

I thought I saw somewhere that Bosman had missed the most tackles out of any player in the S14 this season??

Thought he was pretty defensive strong against the Sharks and Saders to be honest. He and the x Stormer Corne Uys/Piet van Zyl now starting to click in fact the Cheetahs can play them wide. Go watch last weeks two tries they scored against the Saders, wont see many backline scores like that. Thats where the Cheetahs can hurt the Tahs and hope Daniller get more often in that line.

Yeah - before Round 11 last weekend he had missed 52 of them.

Not to any point but it's interesting that the top 10 are all South Africans, except for Quade Cooper in 6th place with 41.

Thats interesting. Thought the Brutes , Stormers & Sharks are pretty strong defensively. The Cheetahs have worked on that aspect preseason and in their pre season games looked good. They fell off during their tour but since the Sharks game they look to me like preseason. The Saders gave them all they got in the second half and they stood strong in defense, dare me say impressively strong and knocked them back. Myself still think they sort of killed the Saders and Sharks on defense before cutting lose towards the end of both matches.

Thats where they usually are pretty strong, if you leave them with a sniff in the last stanza on Osfontein they'll let you pay.

The Tahs still owe them after last years close loss. I'll tip the Cheetahs to win this one by 10.

Matter of interest where do you find these stats?

Lee Grant

They were published last week in NZ Rugby News which I get every week.

The stats are provided by Verusco, a Kiwi stats outfit.

It's interesting that they also provide the stats for the SA stats website mentioned on another thread - and I have noticed some discrepancies.

But it suffices to say that Bosman misses a heap of tackles.

Interesting that the Tahs have lost the fewest scrums and the fewest rucks in the S14 but they are the 2nd worst in lineouts lost. The Brumbies are the worst in scrums lost and the 2nd worst in rucks lost, and the Crusaders are the worst in rucks lost.

The Sharks are the worst in missed tackles whereas the Hurricanes are the best with the Force 2nd best.

The Tahs are the best with the lowest numbers of turnovers conceded, but the Reds are the worst.

The Brumbies are the most well behaved in penalties conceded with the Tahs 2nd. The bad boys are the Lions followed by the Cheetahs.

Yeah, but I like 'em. They play with guts and width every week. Unlike others who just play with guts. The Cheetahs are my second team. :thumb

The Cheetahs were dudded by SANZAR because they had to play their first 6 games away IIRR. It cant be that hard to get an equitable 2 year programme and then just duplicate it startng in year 3.

Some of those Cheetahs players are pretty good and it's no wonder that they beat the Sharks and Crusaders.

Fullback Daniller had a terrific game in the close loss to the Force and has had a few other top performances since then. Heinrich Brussouw is the best SAffer fetcher since Corne Krige. Adrian Strauss is a tough and resourceful hooker and David de Villiers is one of the best lineout men in the S14.

And I think we all remember Nokwe.

And Oom - Spies is also in that top 10. He wins that every week. The missed tackles :lmao:

Very surprised about that stat. Spies has always struck me as a very good defender. In fact, he has saved a few tries with his cover defense this season. Still the best eight in SA by a country mile but jeez he needs to fix that.

As for Bosman - that is the reason he was dropped from the Bok setup a few seasons ago - couldn't tackle for shit.

PaarlBok

Rod McCall (65)
Well I'd like to see the tries against our teams. Pretty sure some of our teams leek the least tries. Meaning we may miss tackles but still pretty difficult scoring tries against the Sharks, Brutes & Stormers.

Spies was 2nd on the list before last weekend with 48.

You have to take some of these stats with a grain of salt. Amongst other things: some guys play in positions where they have to tackle more (especially 7 to 12) than players in other positions and thus will miss more - and other guys may have been high too but they haven't played as many minutes in the season.

But it suffices to say that if you are the tops in missed tackles, or second, there is something wrong with your defence.

Ja RG is a big Kankowski supporter, thats where the Spies one come from, what is his count?

He is more you backline type 8 covering and running pill back. Spies more the ball carrier type.

Kankowski is an amazing player but totally disappears when the going gets tough. He is great when running at people but when required to get his head down and do the dirty work he is nothing more than adequate.

Waratahs currently paying $1.75. I'm all over it. Very confident. Lock of the round.
Tempting. All SA officials tho me thinks. Not that it should matter but it might.

I will lay a tenner on Reds/Tahs/Force with the start or if a handicap that team straight out.

Is it just me or are the Tahds taking this a bit for granted? They seem to have already banked the four points and are looking for the bonus point before the kick off.
