Div 3 Round 5 Predictions:
LCOI @ Blacktown: The only two winless teams do battle and to quote the great boxing idiom, someone's O has got to go. LCOI has gone against what is likely the 3 strongest teams in the comp so far and been competitive but ended up on the wrong side, whereas Blacktown has found it very tough sledding after two weeks in Division 3. I think Blacktown gives them a nervous crack at home if they can hold their discipline, but I'm backing the joint venture to get it done here and move to 1 win on the back of the Exner brothers in space out wide. LCOI by 8. I'll take Blacktown for a home upset in 2s, whilst the Colts game should be a belter, give me Old Barker at home by 3.
Hills @ Beecroft: 1 plays 2 in the game of the round here. Beecroft, ably steered around by the ever-classy Lachy Brooke at 10 and led up front by the dangerous and physical Luke Meehan, have looked in a class of their own in this division. Hills are top of the ladder by virtue of an extra game in hand and just got pipped on the bell by Knox at the Yat. Hills play well on the front foot but break down a fraction if you can get in their grill. I think Beecroft does just that and stamps themselves at $1.20 competition favourites. Beecroft by 10. Hills by 30 in 2s though, they're the heavyweights down there. I'll take the Crofties at home in Colts vs Colleagues II in a tight one.
Knox @ Hornsby: Was last week's Hornsby win a sign of them getting their season back on track or just punching down on Blacktown? We'll find out when they host Knox this week. Knox's Evans is one of the real strike players in the division but needs to hold his head in order for Knox to be great, hes firey. Fitzgerld at 10 is also electric with a boot for days, but he'll have his hands full with his opposite man, Hornsby's Hunter Bird who's been a standout. I think Hornsby has improved, but not enough to get up in this one. Knox by 12. I'll back Knox in 2s and Colts convincingly for what they seem to call a 'knobwash'.
Desperate for a dry track one of these days.
