Edit: great work also @zer0, I somehow missed it until just now. Any chance of an update taking this week's results into account?

Yes, it's coded up so I will update it every Monday after I add the latest results to the input spreadsheet.

Also, do you do any actual work while you're *at work* or just crunch Rugby stats?

No one knows what I do at work, including myself.

Week 9 SRS. Reference post, if needed.

Largest SRS points changes:
Brumbies +2.90 (-2.61 -> -0.291)
Waratahs +2.62 (-8.01 -> -5.39)
Blues +2.39 (-1.56 -> +0.835)
Reds -2.38 (+3.68 -> +1.30)
Chiefs -2.78 (+10.4 -> +7.62)

Blues and Brumbies move up the rankings thanks to their big wins. The Brumbies gaining more points because they were playing the better team. Waratahs stay where they are because there's a lot of previous bad results to overcome before they get moving.

Hurricanes rise more on the Reds falling by 2.38 points than by their own efforts, though keeping it to a one score loss helped. Their SoS has improved from -1.98 to -0.149 on account of playing the Crusaders (for the second time) and the Blues continuing to improve their record (the other team they've played twice).

Chufs pay for getting spanked by NSFW.

SRP2025 run home

Saders 28 Blues, Clan, bye, Chiefs, Tahs, Clan, Brumbies
Chiefs 27 Clan, Force, Canes, Saders, bye, Moana, Clan
Brumbies 23 Moana, Canes, Tahs, Force, Reds, bye, Saders
Reds 23 bye, Blues, Drua, Tahs, Brumbies, Canes, Drua
Tahs 21 Drua, bye, Brumbies, Reds, Saders, Force, Blues
Force 20 Canes, Chiefs, Blues, Brumbies, Drua, Tahs, bye
Clan 17 Chiefs, Saders, Moana, bye, Canes, Saders, Chiefs
Canes 16 Force, Brumbies, Chiefs, bye, Clan, Reds, Moana
Blues 16 Saders, Reds, Force, Drua, Moana, bye, Tahs
Moana 15 Brumbies, Drua, Clan, bye, Blues, Chiefs, Canes
Drua 7 Tahs, Moana, Reds, Blues, Force, bye, Reds

Travel in this competition is challenging, but, I think it could be done a lot better, For example, the Force (one of the two most far flung franchises) travel to NZ to play the Chiefs and Blues in consecutive weeks, fly all the way back to Perth before turning around to fly a considerable distance to Fiji. Why couldn't they continue on to Fiji from Auckland? To rub salt into the wound they then return to Perth to face the Tahs. Not good enough, Super Rugby Pacific.

The Chiefs, Highlanders and Moana Pasifika look to have the easiest runs home as they don't leave NZ in the last seven rounds. The Brumbies and Reds have only one international trip away while the Crusaders, Waratahs, Force, Hurricanes, Blues and Drua all have two each.

My prediction: the current top 5 will make the finals with the sixth spot a toss up between the Force and the Hurricanes. The Highlanders play the top two sides twice each, they're not gonna make it. I don't think the Blues are good enough this year.

It's just the Reds and Force after they play an away game against the Drua.

Not sure that's enough evidence of some sort of pro Waratahs conspiracy.

The Brumbies and the Drua both have four home games in the run home while the Tahs and the Blues have only two. All other teams have three home and three away. Extensive travel late in the season's gotta hurt.

What, you think that the Tahs are all so mighty to wangle the draw to their benefit?

RA involvement and Waugh being an ex-Tah - this whole Drua situation combined with the lack of following Wallabies resting protocol I think they've definitely been granted special consideration and draw privileges by the administration. It's pretty much clearly obvious.

I don't think that they do - how much have RA controlled the draw? Isn't the Super Rugby running organisation a separate entity?

It's pretty much not obvious at all. Maybe I need to put a tin foil hat on to see it.

It's hard to tell whether this post is sarcastic or serious.

My guess is teams ask for dispensation to alter things slightly.

Rugby Australia sets it at no more than 6 games in a row and then the Tahs make a request that some players can play 7 games in a row but will then get two weeks rest.

Have we ever had anything official on what the policy actually is, or just what Christie thinks it is?

I know he's said 6 weeks previously, but he wrote this in his article yesterday
With players of national interest unable to play more than seven straight matches, McKellar has rested Wallabies Angus Bell, Taniela Tupou and Rob Leota. Langi Gleeson, the powerful back-rower, will also come off the bench.
