Reds with only 393 members to go until they hit 30,000 according to the thermostat on the website...a simply mind blowing number.

While I know not every one of those is a ticketed membership, that is a staggering amount of people who have dipped into their pockets to be associated to the Reds. Myself among them.

Without knowing the membership breakdown, that's a $2 - $4million increase in membership revenue since 2010...

Yes with bells on. Totally transforms this rugby franchise to a place of economic strength (after repaying the ARU debt) it's never, ever been before in terms of cash gate income flow, sponsorship $s that flow from that in time, and media viewership that ultimately flows through v positively to the ARU as media deals renew. And Brisbane loves rugby again - it's fantastic to arrive at Suncorp 30 mins before a game and there's big, happy crowds thronging into the ground.

Just so good to see this major achievement within 3 years of near bankruptcy.

QRU Media Release: Members to celebrate 30,000 member milestone with the Reds

The countdown to a 30,000-strong Reds Army is on and to celebrate Queensland Rugby is giving all 2012 St.George Queensland Reds members the chance to meet and greet the team at an exclusive training session before their blockbuster home clash against South African heavyweights the Stormers in April.

Once the membership milestone of 30,000 has been reached a randomly selected group of members, representing each of the seven membership categories in 2012, will be invited to join the Reds at Ballymore to watch the team put the finishing touches on preparations for their round seven FxPro Super Rugby encounter.

To be eligible fans must become members before the 30,000 mark is reached so all supporters who have not yet taken the step to sign-up are encouraged to do so now.

To reach the membership milestone only 142 more supporters are required to join the Reds Army for season 2012.

Three game memberships start at just $58 for students and $74 for Adults and are proving a major hit among fans, who have the choice of which three homes games they wish to attend during the remainder of the regular season.

Headlining the Reds six remaining regular season home matches at Suncorp Stadium are the three highest ranked teams on the competition ladder currently in the Stormers, Chiefs and Brumbies, as well as interstate rivals the NSW Waratahs.

“Everyone is excited to see the 30,000 member milestone hit as nothing lifts the team more than seeing our fans turn up to Suncorp Stadium at each of our home games,” captain James Horwill said.

“Having such a passionate group of supporters really does make the difference and we’re proud to have the best fan base in all of Australian Rugby.”

All 2012 membership packages include a special edition members-only DVD of the 2011 Super Rugby Final, which is unavailable for retail purchase and contains never-before seen footage, and a 126-page 2012 season guide.

Pretty sure there was a Red Army before the Rebel Army. You guys will have to change to the Rebel Alliance, for which there is even earlier precedent.

why does Sydney ahve so much trouble attracting a crowd? They should have far more members...

I think the 2010 Membership figure here and the fact the Reds are now over 30,000 should get the other teams launching similar massive membership drives for next year.

And well done to the 5,517 who were there when we were shit.

Or they should just get the other teams to win Super Rugby. Rebels win the Championship = 50k.
